Daily Inspiration: Meet Desiree Olavarrieta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Desiree Olavarrieta.

Hi Desiree, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m a Los Angeles–born entrepreneur and brand strategist focused on image, storytelling, and long-term positioning for professional athletes, particularly in women’s sports. My career began working closely with NBA, NFL, and MLB talent, where I developed a passion for helping athletes build identities that extend beyond the game into business, culture, and legacy.

Over time, my work evolved from styling, custom design and image consulting into full brand architecture—guiding partnerships, narrative, content, and strategic growth across sports, lifestyle, and business ventures. I’m deeply driven by purpose, resilience, and legacy, shaped by personal growth and my role as a mother. Today, I focus on building platforms, brands, and opportunities that empower athletes, women, and communities prioritizing not just visibility, but meaningful and lasting impact.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many entrepreneurs, I faced uncertainty, financial pressure, and moments of reinvention especially during the pandemic. That period forced me to pivot and reevaluate my direction. What began as work rooted in styling, personal design, and custom clothing evolved into a deeper focus on brand strategy, long-term positioning, and building meaningful platforms for athletes and communities.

Navigating a competitive, male-dominated sports and business space as a woman also came with challenges, from proving my value to creating opportunities where none existed. At the same time, balancing entrepreneurship with motherhood required resilience, discipline, and purpose.

Each obstacle ultimately strengthened my clarity, sharpened my vision, and pushed me to build with intention turning setbacks into growth and challenges into direction.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I work at the intersection of creativity, identity, and strategy helping professional athletes and brands shape how they are seen, felt, and remembered. My work focuses on brand architecture, guiding image, narrative, partnerships, content, and long-term positioning across sports, lifestyle, and business, while connecting fashion and business in a way that strengthens both presence and opportunity.

I specialize in translating who someone truly is into a clear, powerful presence both visually and strategically. Whether shaping an athlete’s personal brand, building meaningful collaborations, or creating platforms that connect sports, culture, and community, my approach is rooted in authenticity and long-term impact rather than short-term visibility.

What I’m most proud of is helping athletes especially women recognize their value beyond the game and build something lasting for their future and legacy. What sets me apart is my ability to merge creativity with strategy: I don’t just shape how something looks, I help define what it means and where it’s going.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is purpose, legacy, and impact. I care deeply about building things that last whether that’s helping athletes recognize their value beyond the game, creating opportunities for women, or shaping platforms that uplift communities.

My work is rooted in authenticity and intention, but at the center of everything is my role as a mother. Motherhood has shaped how I see responsibility, resilience, and the importance of building a future that extends beyond myself. It reminds me that success is not just about achievement, but about what you create for others and what you leave behind.

I’m driven by growth, meaning, and the belief that when you move with purpose, you can transform both your own path and the paths of others.
