Daily Inspiration: Meet Daryl Goldes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daryl Goldes.

Hi Daryl, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I got started with seven students from a homeschool program who were interested in taking their Irish dancing career further than classes once per week. My program has grown from seven students in a church hall to a multilevel program where we have dancers competing at the local, regional, and national level. Scoil Rince Daryl Rose focus on both the competitive and performance aspects of Irish dancing.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The pandemic was a struggle for us. We went from face-to-face classes in the studio to Zoom classes. Many students found online learning to be a struggle due to various factors, including technology and connection issues, lack of space at home, boredom from too much screen time. We found that our beginner classes suffered the most from this change to online learning. We tried to make it as fun as possible by offering weekly challenges, new workouts, and game nights.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
In addition to being the director and instructor at Scoil Rince Daryl Rose, I also work as a registered dietitian in a hospital setting, providing medical nutrition therapy to various populations in the lifespan. My experience as a healthcare professional gives me a nice balance from running the business, and vice versa. I love the versatility of my career and love that I get to make a difference in people’s lives in all that I do.

In addition to that, I also perform various circus and aerial arts as a mean of expressing myself. My skills include silks, Lyra, pole, flexibility.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I have always found that having a positive attitude has attracted the right kind of energy toward to me, whether it’s professionally or in my personal life. Whenever we have events for the public, I try to engage everyone I meet. Life is too short to be so serious; I love to laugh and be silly.
