Daily Inspiration: Meet Darlyn Coleman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Darlyn Coleman

Hi Darlyn, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My path toward establishing Remede LLC was born out of a diagnosis of Alopecia in 2019, followed by a Cancer scare in 2021 that resulted in the removal of three large fibroids and the loss of my right ovary (ovarian cyst). These diagnoses made the importance of improving and maintaining my health a real priority. In 2022 I began to research the importance of fruits, vegetables, herbs, and vitamins to the body’s wellbeing. Discovered many nutritional and healing properties by consuming them. As well as cutting certain foods and drinks out of my diet (such as: dairy, beef, pork, and alcohol). At the same time I decided to create wellnesswithdarlyn page on various social media platforms: Instagram, TikTok, & YouTube to share my journey. The positive feedback that I was receiving from social media inspired me to do more than just juice for myself, but to start an organic juicing company to serve and help others be healthy.

Today I have been in business for a year and a half. I am very grateful for the clients who have been with me since the beginning and excited for the new clients that I have gained. My menu consists of seven 16oz organic cold-pressed juices, 2oz immunity shot, and 2oz wellness shot. I only use organic produce, no heat, sugars, or preservatives are added. 100% natural juice! What makes me happiest is when I hear customers say how my shots have helped them get well from being sick, OR doing a juice cleanse has helped them lose weight and/or feel better OR just being inspired to take better care of themselves.

I have learned so much not only about myself, but what it takes to market a company, how important connections are, and what it takes overall to run a business. Being an entrepreneur is not for the weak. For me: self-belief, perseverance, faith, discipline, and consistency in your product are all important in running a growing business.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The journey of entrepreneurship has its challenges. When it comes to starting a business if you do not have investors, or receive funding from grants or loans, you are paying out of pocket. I do not have investors, nor do I want to take out loans this early in the process, so I am funding Remede myself. It’s scary, because I’ve never owned a business and I do not want to fail. This is why FAITH is so important. I not only believe in myself but my product as well! Success is the ONLY option no matter what trials and tribulations lie ahead.

One of my challenges has been building clientele, which is where patience and perseverance comes into play. You cannot rely on your family and friends to support your business. I mean it’s great if they do, and luckily some family and friends do support my business. I am still in the beginning stages, so I am continuously marketing Remede on social media and through word of mouth. During this time of building clientele I remember to give myself grace as success does not happen overnight. Everything takes time!

Another challenge is staying up to date with the requirements of owning a business. This here is crucial! Getting a Business license, LLC, trademark name, any required certifications, annual business owner fees, etc. The list goes on. Making sure I am up to date with the state requirements as a business owner is a job by itself. This is a top priority for me so that I can continue to run my business and keep it in good standing!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Prior to starting my juicing company, I’ve been a Senior Recruiter for 12 years now. After graduating from UCSD, I began my career at USC. Later transitioned into a different sector, recruiting in government contracting. Naturally being a people person makes recruiting that much more exciting and fulfilling for me! I have met great people throughout my career, and I especially take pride in helping our veterans transition from the military to civilian work. This is where my people skills and eagerness to help others come full circle. I’m able to do it with my recruiting career and juicing company. I get to do what I love which is helping others! Both give me purpose, and for that I am grateful!

I’m most proud of stepping outside of my comfort zone to start a business. I never saw myself doing such a thing. I’ve always liked to play it safe. Working a 9-5 is what was safe for me, but I’m older and wiser now. My ultimate goal is helping others while having multiple streams of income.

What sets me apart from others is my intentions are always pure, helping others comes naturally, and I strive for excellence in everything that I do. My motto is treating people how you want to be treated. For me that means respect, honest communication, and kindness.
