Today we’d like to introduce you to DaRay Culver.
DaRay , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started with a hunger to understand life beyond what I was taught. Growing up, I faced a lot of real-life challenges. Pain, loss and lessons that didn’t come with a manual. For a long time, I was just surviving, not really living. But as I grew in faith and started doing the inner work, I realized that everything I went through was preparing me to help others rise from their own struggles.
That’s what led me to write “The Keys They Never Gave You.” It came from a place of wanting to hand people the principles I had to learn the hard way. I didn’t write it as a preacher or a motivational speaker. I wrote it as a man who’s been through it, healed through it, and wants to help others do the same.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not a smooth road. I’ve faced plenty of obstacles. Financial setbacks, self-doubt, broken relationships, and moments where I questioned if I was even on the right path. There were seasons where I felt like I was doing everything right but still coming up short.
Writing these books came out of those rough seasons. I had to unlearn a lot of what I thought strength looked like. I had to deal with childhood pain, pride, and learning how to trust God for real, not just say it. That process wasn’t easy, but it built my character.
Every struggle taught me something. The pain became purpose, and the losses turned into lessons that shaped the man I am today. Looking back, I can honestly say the road wasn’t smooth, but it was necessary.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m an author, speaker and mentor focused on helping people break free from mental and emotional chains that keep them stuck. My work centers around raw truth and real growth. No sugarcoating, no fluff. I write and speak to those who’ve been through pain, disappointment, and setbacks, but still have the fire to rise again.
What I’m most proud of is the impact. Hearing from people who’ve read my work and say it changed how they see themselves, that’s everything to me. What sets me apart is the authenticity behind it. I’m not writing theory; I’m writing what I lived. Every line comes from real experience and spiritual growth. My mission is to wake people up to their potential and remind them that God can still use the broken, the overlooked, and the doubted to do powerful things.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success by enduring the hardships of life long enough to see your vision become reality. It’s about doing everything you said you would, becoming everything you said you could, and living a life that has meaning beyond yourself.
For me, success isn’t just about money or status. It’s about purpose, discipline, and impact. It’s staying true to your calling even when life hits hard. It’s building something that will outlive you. If my work, my words and my example can help somebody else rise, then I’ve succeeded.
