Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Lee Umana
Hi Christopher Lee, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hey there! Hope all is well, I’m Christopher Lee Umana, hailing from Los Angeles, California, but I spent my childhood in the Inland Empire. I’m a multi-talented individual, juggling roles as an Artist, Entrepreneur, Hybrid Athlete, Business Owner, and Creative. My venture, Lost Media Digital Studios, is a creative multimedia marketing agency dedicated to enhancing the content and social presence of brands and businesses. We’ve expanded our reach to over 10 states and three countries, and our growth shows no signs of slowing down.
My journey into photography/videography began around 2014 when a group of friends started a brand called ARTES VIDA, that I had the pleasure of briefly being a part of. That inspired a spark, and I’ve been hooked ever since. I remember my first camera was a Canon rebel T6i with a 50 mm lens.
Let’s take a step back for a moment to set the scene. If you’re already excelling in one area, there’s another realm where you might find yourself equally, if not more, skilled. It just takes a leap of faith and a bit of exploration. Trust me, it’s out there. We’re capable of so much more than we realize.
Looking back, our path to where we are today was filled with various versions of ourselves that we had to outgrow.
From ages 9 to 14, I immersed myself in taekwondo. It was a special bond with my dad, who encouraged me within the martial arts to be a fighter, and I found myself drawn to it as well. I earned my black belt and numerous national tournament titles in my sparring divisions, accumulating boxes of trophies and medals, and different color belts in my garage.
Around the age of 14, I shifted my focus to soccer. Growing up, my younger brother was deeply involved in the sport, and being part of his world, I was inspired to play like him. Jay will forever be a GOAT, and the sport always came so naturally to him since a toddler. For me on the other hand it was a gradual process, moving from practicing with younger kids to club soccer, to eventually trying out for PUMAS UNAM sub 17 in Mexico City and making the team. That was a pivotal moment for me, standing out among over 200 other hopefuls, many of whom were unaware of my relatively short time in the sport.
A few years later I found myself at Chaffey Community College, and ended up having some of the most rewarding times of my soccer career. Then, I joined Miami Fusion, a third-division team in Miami, Florida. A friend of mine posted an ad for tryouts on Facebook, and I ended up in Miami for two days, where I impressed the coaches enough to make the team. I stayed in Miami on a home grown contract for nine months, winning two titles with the team during the 2015-2016 seasons.
The message here is clear: greatness is within each of us. It’s about striving for it and embracing our failures along the way. Dalé mas gasolina.
In 2016, I returned home, eager to dive back into my passion for creating. I grabbed the camera I had been talking about, pouring all my energy and talent into it, and it flourished. I became in love with the art of capturing, editing and making money doing it. At the same time I didn’t know it then but I was laying the groundwork for what would become Lost Media Digital Studios.
My journey as a creative led me to modeling opportunities, thanks to the media and promotional work I did for Miami. As I advanced with my photography & videography skills, I also ventured into modeling, building a strong presence in the industry. I worked with numerous brands, companies, and participated in runway shows. My career even took off when I appeared in a got milk commercial, a few music videos, and started acting.
By 2024, I had become a well-rounded individual. I continued to play soccer regularly, practiced boxing, and honed my skills in taekwondo. My media agency was growing, and I found myself needing to delegate tasks and hire additional staff, which was a positive development. I had dedicated over 20,000 hours to my work, learning, and research, and my modeling career had been incredibly successful.
Looking ahead, I remain committed to my creative spirit. Music is a central part of my life and has significantly influenced my journey. I’ve used music as a tool to fuel my passion. Currently, I have a home studio where I record my music, and I’m transitioning into a more professional setting. My bedroom studio is evolving into a place where I can create music on a larger scale. I’ve learned to produce beats, play the piano, mix and engineer vocals, and write and record songs. I’m excited about launching my first official music video, “La Profesora,” a reggaeton Latin hit, which is set to be released in September.
I believe the only remaining message is for those who are eager to take action or are intrigued by the idea of creating something. Don’t overcomplicate things or seek approval. Just dive in. You’ll be amazed at what you can achieve when you don’t let others’ expectations weigh you down and when you don’t base your life on the opinions of others. Remember, just because someone else finds it challenging doesn’t mean you can’t. People have their own limitations, and they often try to force their views onto you. You’re boundless, so go ahead and make your mark. Leave your signature on the world, both in the physical and digital realms.
with LOVE
Christopher Lee Umana.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We all experience moments of ease and moments of struggle, just like in every aspect of life. I’ve certainly faced my fair share of hardships, and I’m sure you have too, whether you realize it or not. These challenges often come from within, like when things don’t go as planned or when we face failure.
However, I’ve always managed to rise again, even when the support of others seemed overwhelming. The doubt that seeps in is often just an illusion, not a reflection of reality.
You’re capable of overcoming anything. You can start anew, learn new things, and even change your identity if you wish. The only thing you can’t recover from is death. Yet, while you’re alive, breathing, and experiencing, you have the power to shape your reality. It’s about learning to control it.
Eventually, you learn to see obstacles and challenges as mere stepping stones, and to live in a state of constant flow and presence. You learn to overcome everything.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Absolutely, in my professional life, I see myself as either a creative director or an artist, utilizing every aspect to craft my work. Initially, when I began freelancing, I identified as a photographer, focusing on photography projects. However, I expanded my skills to include video editing and started blending these areas, attracting clients for both photography and videography services. Eventually, I combined these talents to launch my multimedia marketing agency, offering comprehensive packages and solutions for businesses of all types, helping them establish a strong social media presence through diverse content creation. I’ve had the opportunity to work in 10 states and 3 countries.
I specialize in visual storytelling, possessing a distinctive approach to seeing and organizing elements that others might overlook. I am a creator, embodying a multifaceted nature.
There are numerous instances where I’ve felt a great sense of pride, but I’d say my greatest achievements are in our journey through the creative realm, our perseverance, and the way we’ve embraced life differently, driven by the courage to stand out and pursue our passions. To me, what distinguishes me is my commitment to excellence, not settling for mediocrity or following fleeting trends. I’ve witnessed the magic. The question is have you?
My family also sets me apart. Having my beautiful mother Noemi Niebla, & my highly intellectual Dad Juan Carlos Umana, & my talented younger brother Johnathan Joel by my side has always been the biggest blessing and what I’m honestly most proud of.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
In my view, the key attribute that has contributed to my success is discipline. This lesson was instilled in me by my father and through sports. This quality is central to everything else I’ve achieved. While some may argue that it’s mindset, work ethic, focus, or passion that are equally important, I’ve consistently outperformed my peers who possessed these qualities but lacked discipline, which I did not. As far as I’m aware, they seem to be enjoying their careers.
However, take it seriously. Work hard, regardless of the results or rewards, and stop being motivated by external factors. You’ll witness the incredible transformation. I believe it works, but it’s crucial to be sincere about it.
Feel free to give me a follow, send me a message, and check out my work for inspiration.
