Daily Inspiration: Meet Christina Aghassian

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Aghassian.

Hi Christina, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I always loved painting and doodling since I was a child. One of my earliest dream jobs was to be a painter on a bridge. I kind of got pushed into medical assisting… for 10 years. I ended up leaving the medical field and a friend of mine suggested I work as a receptionist at a nail salon until I figure out what I wanted to do. I was watching nail techs all day and saw all the fun art which brought me back to how I painted when I was a child. It was kind of like an epiphany. I told my boyfriend (now husband) and friends that I wanted to do nails and they were all like “YES! DO IT! I can so see you doing that!!” And here we are!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not but it was definitely worth it! I was a full time student and luckily I had my then fiance as my support system but making ends meet was tough. I started working the day after I passed my state board exam in 2019. Moved to a couple of salons until I found my clientele in Westwood. I worked for a pretty big and well known salon in Westwood and I actually had the highest 5 star ratings on their yelp page. One thing led to another and I ended up opening up my own private salon suite in Beverly Hills 2 months before our wedding. It was the most magical but stressful two months of my life. After 3 years in Beverly Hills, I missed Westwood so I moved into another private salon suite in 2025 and I’m so glad I did.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a private nail artist who specializes in non toxic and cruelty free gel products. I pride myself in making sure each client leaves my chair with not just the perfect set and shape but with clean cuticles and healthy nails underneath. I want to make sure that my clients are being cared for the way I would want to be cared for. I don’t use acrylic or dip powders because I am non toxic so you will never have to smell any fumes ever again.

What matters most to you? Why?
What really matters to me is helping people feel more confident and cared for. I want clients to feel that my salon is a safe space for everyone where we can create a loving and accepting community for all. And please, don’t forget your cuticle oil!
