Daily Inspiration: Meet Cazper J

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cazper J.

Hi Cazper, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My story starts with me getting into songwriting at 12 years old as a coping mechanism shortly after my dad passed away in 2011. Months later, I decided I wanted to pursue a music career. In 2014, I started producing after getting tired of rapping over YouTube instrumentals and although I had no idea about engineering at the time, I had catchy beats that sounded different and that’s what drove me to stick with it and get better. Now, I feel like I’m at a place where I stayed true to my craft and created a new sound. I take pride in the fact that my music is unique and it inspires people to be different and not take the easy route to success.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road by any means but as my mom likes to say, it builds character. From my father and both grandfathers passing before I turned 21 to dealing with depression and anxiety early on, it’s been a journey but every day I wake up and try to make my day better than the last because people I was close to wasn’t fortunate enough to see another day like they expected.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a recording artist, songwriter, and producer. I take pride in the fact I did it my own way when I could have easily got fame by copying someone else that has already succeeded. At the same token, I feel like that’s what sets me apart. That fact that I’m willing to bend the rules of what is normal in music and create my own thing is something that I admire about myself and no one can take that away.

What matters most to you? Why?
My family matters to me most. They have been there at my lowest and my highest points so when I do what I do in terms of fighting for my career, I always keep them in mind.
