Daily Inspiration: Meet Byesadboy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Byesadboy.

Byesadboy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I honestly go into music more for fun. I originally was on the back end for artists and influencers doing marketing, PR, and management. So, I had a lot of friends and connections in the music industry but never really had the idea to start making music for myself. I was visiting LA for a meeting one weekend while waiting, I decided to meet up with my friend Steven (@steviescience) who is an engineer.

I met him at his studio in Burbank and we were super bored and he was like: “why don’t you hop in the booth and put something down?” After a few hours and a lot of coaching on his end, we finally finished a song called “What Do You Say”. A few months later, I finally decided to put it out on Soundcloud. At first, it really didn’t get much love or traction but after about 3-4 months, I had over 30,000 plays on it. At the time, it was a big deal for me and definitely opened my eyes to the possibility of being an artist. Fast forward about three years and now it’s not only a career move for me but it’s also my passion and what gets me up and moving everyday. So, it started as a joke or for fun and quickly turned into something much bigger. I can honestly say I didn’t see it turning out to be anything but here we are. I went through A LOT of trial and error and ups and downs but have yet to quit. I’ve been lucky enough to have more connections and know-how than most independent artists. That doesn’t mean that it’s been easy though.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not, I don’t think anything in life is a smooth road. I think my struggles are something that many people don’t feel comfortable talking about. Ya know it’s hard enough becoming an artist or an Entrepreneur for anyone. Yet, my struggles have been more personal than anything. I’ve struggled with substance abuse problems and have been for the past six years. Although that might not seem like a long time to most people dealing with substance abuse, it’s for sure taken a toll on not just my life but also the people around me like friends and family. I’m not completely sober and clean while I’m writing this but I can definitely say that I’ve been working on myself and the relationships around me. I am aware of my issues and struggles and am trying everyday to better myself, my situation and be aware that it’s a process that’s not going to be fixed overnight.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m an artist (singer, songwriter). I go by the stage name byesadboy. I have released four singles (What Do You Say, Summer Time Vibes, Hold My Hand, and Overdose). I am releasing my fifth single titled “Grow Up” on January 1st, 2021. I’ve genre crossed music that really highlights my versatility and I’m super stoked about that! I have really grown over the past three years and taken my music to new levels that I would’ve never foreseen. I created the persona byesadboy to help easily connect with the people/fans that I am speaking to through my music. I really want people to know that they aren’t going through heartbreak or substance abuse alone. In fact, there are many people just like them including me. 🙂

Yet, the reason behind byesadboy for me personally is that I’m saying goodbye to the sad part of my life. I am truly not as sad as I used to be. Luckily I found the love of my life and am truly moving in a better direction. That doesn’t mean that I do not still have those emotions or don’t think about those low points in my life, I just express it through music and try to show people that it’s okay to be down, sad or just meh. I try to be vulnerable so others might feel more comfortable in their situations. It’s a huge coping mechanism for me that helps me move on from these emotions. I’d like to think that it helps others as well. I guess what sets me apart from others is my ability to be an open book. I don’t have secrets and I’m cool with airing out my faults or issues if it helps someone else with theirs.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I used to run track and was kinda a good catholic schoolboy throughout high school. I had never even drunk heavily until I got to college and I definitely thought it was weird for a guy to have his ears pierced or nails painted. Now you won’t catch me outside without my jewelry, earrings and black nail polish.
