Daily Inspiration: Meet Brittany Pardee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Pardee. They and their team shared their story with us below:

Brittany Pardee, a powerful and precise artist, began her dance training at the age of two in Kansas City, Missouri, following in her mother and big sisters’ footsteps. She trained and practiced consistently in the styles of ballet, jazz, hip-hop, contemporary, and more at Cathy’s Creative Dance School. Throughout Brittany’s training, she had the opportunity to perform at national dance competitions and conventions; such as Dance Masters of America, Dupree Dance Competition, Revel, etc. It led her to receive many awards and recognitions in the dance industry. Her drive and motivation for the art resulted in many winning titles for Dance Master’s of America, traveling as a teaching assistant for conventions around the country, and representation offers from prestigious talent agencies.

Upon graduating from high school, Brittany followed her dream in becoming a professional dancer at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) in Los Angeles, California. She studied in a wide variety of styles under the direction of Stephanie Landwehr, Michelle Elkin, Kyle McHargh, Tracy Silver, and Genevieve Carson. She graduated with honors and is continuing to explore her creativity in the performing arts. Brittany is currently pursuing a career in the commercial world focusing on music videos, television and live performances.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Brittany’s journey in starting her career was a little rocky. Being at the young age of 18 and moving across the country alone was one of the biggest struggles she went through. With Brittany being a very family-oriented person, she cried almost daily for the first few weeks saying “I can’t do this.” However, deep down, her parents knew that she was meant to be in LA and show her talent to the world. So they pushed her, with so much love and support, to stay out there.

Another struggle she had been through was quarantine. Brittany began her college career in fall of 2019 and covid started in spring of 2020. Right before lockdown, the AMDA community was sent home, not knowing that it would be for a year and a half… Brittany trained in her carpeted basement in her hometown over zoom for that period of time and began studying another passion of hers as well; esthetics. Fall of 2021 rolls around and the LA AMDA campus is finally open. She travels back to LA to finish out her college career in person. Wearing masks while dancing, getting two covid tests a week, and having to keep 6 feet of distance between her and her friends was challenging. But she did it and finished out her college years by graduating with honors with her BFA in Dance Theater.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Brittany is a precise, powerful and sensual dancer. She trains in various styles, specializes in the commercial world, but is known for her clean technique and story telling in the jazz genre. She is most proud of how far her personal artistry has come in these last three and a half years at AMDA. Brittany has gained so much confidence in her work and has become more adventurous and creative in the art. What sets her apart from others is that she will retain the smallest most intricate details of the piece and still perform the story to its fullest with her powerful and precise movement in a versatile world.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something surprising about Brittany that people might not know is she grew up with a very talented and artistic family. Her father, Tim Pardee, has been a singer since he was 12 years old. He started off singing in different churches, then moved forward with his career starting his own country band, 6 Degrees West. He as opened for big artists such as Keith Urban, Blake Shelton, Kenny Chesney, and the list goes on. Brittany’s brother, Cody Pardee, was also into music and played the guitar, keyboard and sang as well. He began playing and singing at the age of 10 and soon after joined an alternative band and played small gigs here and there. Brittany’s mother, Dawn Pardee, started dancing at the age of 10 at Cathy’s Creative Dance School. She trained in various styles and eventually became a teacher at the same studio for 20 years. Which leads me to Brittany’s sister, Alexis Pardee, who also grew up as a dancer at Cathy’s Creative Dance School at the age of 4. She grew up training in various styles as well, including dance team, and became a dance teacher at the age of 20 and dance team coach at the age of 24. Soon after, she became a judge for many dance studio and dance team competitions.
