Daily Inspiration: Meet Belle Lee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Belle Lee.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hi! My name is Belle Lee, and I’m currently working as a Character Artist at MGA Entertainment. Since graduating from ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, I’ve had the opportunity to contribute to a variety of beloved brands, including L.O.L. Surprise, Baby Born, Yummiland, Bratz, and Miniverse. It’s been such a joy to see my character art/designs come to life and transform into real toys!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Figuring out the visa situation was one of the toughest chapters of my journey. As an international student who crossed the ocean from my hometown of Cheon-An, South Korea, I never imagined that I would make a living doing what I love.

After graduating, I just one year to find a job, sponsorship, and apply for an Artist Visa, known as the O-1. I couldn’t image how 1 year passed. There were lots of sleepless nights with tears haha. The good news is my visa was approved, and I’ve been able to keep moving forward—thanks to everyone who supported me along the way.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I create character art for toy brands, working closely with packaging and product designers to provide visual assets. Sometimes we even help design the toys themselves!
During product development, when new concepts are needed, we brainstorm and create character art—from small details like doll fashion, poses, and colors to the bigger picture like style guides, backgrounds, and personality.

What are your plans for the future?
That’s a great question! I’ve been creating illustrations in my spare time, and I hope to keep developing my art style to eventually build my own brand and open my own shop one day.
These days, there are so many platforms that make it easier for us to connect and share our work with the world. Hopefully, I can create my own little Belle Lee Art World someday
