Today we’d like to introduce you to Barbara Nguyen.
Hi Barbara, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m Barbara Nguyen, a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC) at The Remedy Aesthetics + Wellness in Walnut, CA. My journey into aesthetic medicine started in traditional nursing. I worked as a registered nurse while putting myself through graduate school to earn my nurse practitioner degree. That foundation in family practice gave me strong clinical training, patient-centered care experience, and a deep understanding of overall health and wellness.
I began my career as a nurse practitioner in family practice, where I developed advanced assessment and diagnostic skills. My introduction to aesthetic medicine happened unexpectedly — during a conversation with my nurse manager. I was genuinely surprised when she mentioned her age because she looked incredible. When she shared that she received Botox treatments, I became immediately intrigued by the science behind neuromodulators and non-surgical facial rejuvenation.
What started as curiosity quickly turned into passion. I pursued advanced training in Botox, dermal fillers, and non-invasive treatments, gaining hands-on clinical experience through on-the-job training and employment in aesthetic practice, where I refined both my technical skill and artistic eye. I quickly fell in love with the artistry and precision of aesthetic nursing. Over the past 8+ years, I’ve specialized in natural-looking cosmetic injectables, skin rejuvenation, and holistic regenerative aesthetics — blending science, prevention, and restorative treatments to support long-term skin health. My approach focuses on subtle, personalized results that help patients feel confident while still looking like themselves.
Eventually, I branched into solo practice, co-founding my aesthetic practice alongside Medical Director Dr. Chantal Lunderville. Dr. Chantal Lunderville is a medical doctor and leader in aesthetic medicine who has built a professional Inner Circle designed to elevate providers in the aesthetic field. Through this exclusive network, she gives nurse practitioners, nurses, physician assistants, and aestheticians access to advanced clinical training, mentorship, industry insight, preferred product access, and exclusive opportunities within aesthetics. Her Inner Circle is more than education — it’s a collaborative community that empowers providers to grow confidently, refine their skills, and build thriving, ethical, patient-centered aesthetic practices.
Today, I combine over 13+ years of experience as both a Registered Nurse and Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner with advanced aesthetic expertise to provide safe, personalized, results-driven treatments rooted in both science and artistry.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This journey has not been an easy one. There were seasons that tested me — especially navigating partnership challenges early on. I initially launched under a different name with a different partner, and that experience taught me invaluable lessons about alignment, leadership, and protecting your vision. It can be difficult to find the right partners in this industry, and even harder to find true support.
Fortunately, I was eventually connected with Dr. Chantal Lunderville, whose guidance, encouragement, and belief in my growth have made a meaningful difference. Having the right professional support system matters more than people realize.
The aesthetic field can be competitive and, at times, isolating. But it can also be incredibly collaborative. I’ve been fortunate to connect with inspiring, like-minded providers — many through Instagram, Facebook, and social media communities. I genuinely believe in supporting small businesses and uplifting other professionals. There is room for all of us to succeed.
Finding a circle of providers who are growth-minded, ethical, supportive, and open to helping one another has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey. It reminded me that while the road may not be easy, the right community makes all the difference.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At The Remedy Aesthetics + Wellness, I specialize in natural, refined aesthetic treatments that enhance — not change — my patients’ features. With a strong clinical foundation in both nursing and advanced practice, my approach is rooted in medical safety, facial anatomy, and whole-person care.
I’m known for delivering subtle, balanced, and refreshed results through cosmetic injectables, preventative aging treatments, skin rejuvenation, and holistic regenerative aesthetics. My approach blends science and artistry — meaning every treatment plan is individualized, conservative, and designed to support long-term skin health rather than quick fixes.
What I’m most proud of is building a practice centered around integrity and intention. I’ve created an environment where patients feel educated, heard, and never pressured. The goal isn’t transformation — it’s refinement. It’s helping someone look like themselves on their best day, every day.
What sets me apart is my combination of clinical depth and aesthetic restraint. Coming from family medicine, I assess the full picture — lifestyle, wellness, skin health, and aging patterns — before ever picking up a syringe. I integrate regenerative treatments, such as PRP [platelet-rich-plasma], advanced laser therapies, and muscle stimulation, alongside traditional aesthetic treatments like Tox and dermal filler, creating a comprehensive approach that supports collagen production, skin quality, and structural longevity. I focus on structure, prevention, and regeneration — not overfilling or chasing trends. My patients trust me because they know I will always prioritize natural results, facial harmony, and long-term outcomes over volume or sales.
At the core of my work is this belief: confidence should feel effortless, and aesthetics should look undetectable.
What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is the confidence, trust, and integrity I build with my patients. I want to help others in a way that, while sometimes considered “taboo,” has a meaningful impact on their wellbeing and self-perception. Feeling confident and happy in your own skin can take many forms, and aesthetic treatments are one way to support that.
Beyond the treatments themselves, it’s the relationships that truly matter — taking the time to genuinely get to know my patients, understanding their goals, and walking alongside them in their journey. Watching their growth, confidence, and happiness unfold is deeply rewarding and drives everything I do. I also deeply value the relationships I’ve built within this industry — collaborating with like-minded injectors and entrepreneurs who share the same commitment to integrity, artistry, and patient-centered care. Those connections inspire me, challenge me to grow, and ultimately elevate the experience I’m able to provide.
