Daily Inspiration: Meet Athena Ashburn

Today we’d like to introduce you to Athena Ashburn.

Hi Athena, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Started in the entertainment industry as an actress and knew early on that I needed to create my own door to get in the industry. I decided to produce my own content which led me to produce award-winning feature films associated with studios including MGM, Warner Brothers, HBO, First Independent Pictures, and Roadside Attractions. Such films include epic ensemble piece, “Bobby”, released by MGM, which was nominated for “Best Picture” at the Golden Globes. After studying motion picture production at NYU’s prestigious TISCH School of the Arts, and being inspired by my late aunt Inger Stevens, who co-starred in movies such as Hang ‘Em High (1968) and A Guide for the Married Man (1967), I immediately began forging myself in multiple areas of the film industry. My debut venture as a producer, I attracted Academy Award® and Emmy® winning actors to appear in The Elevator (HBO), a film in which I also starred.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Struggled along the way but remained determined to keep going. Anytime I got a “no” or a door shut, I decided that’s someone’s subjective opinion, so instead I just walked around that “no” and kept going.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As a film producer, my frustrations with the industry has always been there’s never been a true working model that brings value, sustainability, and scalability. As Co-Founder/Co-CEO of Sirocco, our company is the first in the industry as a Hybrid DeFi Media Platform that delivers full transparency in an industry that historically lacked from the gate! I’m proud to develop, finance and produce inclusive narratives through our streamline business model.

Sirocco means winds of the desert, which for an artist can be a journey of creativity, taking flight over the harsh dunes to a new zenith.
