Daily Inspiration: Meet Angelo Vázquez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angelo Vázquez

Hi Angelo, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always been fascinated with photography since my childhood. It started out with using the camera from my very first iPhone to capture the summer sunsets or the places I would visit. It would change up until 5 years ago when my family got me my first camera for my birthday, a Canon Rebel T7i. But for a time I was still shy to bring out my camera so my friends’ credit they encouraged me to bring my camera whenever we would hang out as they had some amazing outfits so that’s when I discovered that I like to take portraits and working with fashion. We’d also explore some unique locations across LA so in turn, I started to capture more of LA.

Don’t forget the cars! I’ve always loved cars growing up so through my camera I’ve explored a lot of the LA car scene and in turn I’ve found some pretty unique viewing spots of LA while working with cars over the years. Combine all 3 things, I’ve met a lot of unique people along the way who i’ve had the privilege of working with who believe in my vision which goes along way. In fact many of these people have mentored me which has helped me improve my work immensely. The journey is far from over though, but through my camera I’ve had some really amazing opportunities that I would not have believed would happen a few years ago.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been smooth, some of the struggles were as simple as finding my editing style or disliking my own work as many artists do when they begin to nitpick their own work at times. At one point it was finding the right clients, but I made it happen eventually. Other times its’ simply finding the motivation to continue when things are rocky, but I do have a great support system through my friends and my own girlfriend who remind me to keep going on this journey. A lot of the photographers that I’ve met are honestly really amazing people as well so they’re always cool with providing advice or even showing me new editing tricks!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I dabble in 3 areas, Automotive, Lifestyle, and Landscapes through my work. I specialize mostly in lifestyle and automotive though. I’m mostly known for working with cool cars and models, not so much my Landscape work but I still dabble in that area as its always an adventure trying to get that one cool shot of LA during a sunset especially when you go out with a fun group of people! You’re always bound to encounter some funny or interesting moments on the way up to a spot.

I am most proud of by how fast and how far my work has progressed within these last 2 years, sometimes I’m still astonished by what I’ve been able to accomplish so far so I’m eager to see what i can do in the future.

What sets me apart? That’s honestly a great question, I’d like to think my aesthetic is what sets me apart. My aesthetic is what seems to be attracting all kinds of people to my work through my tones and my use of colors, people really seem to like it especially with all my recent stuff that I’ve been putting out.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters to me is honestly building the right relationships with people, you honestly never know who they know and what kind of opportunities could open up someday. I’m a people person so first impressions and bringing the right amount of energy to a shoot says a lot about someone.
