Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandra Friesel.
Hi Alexandra, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I would say getting started and getting to where I’m at today can both be attributed to place. I grew up in the Santa Monica Mountains, a quick 30-40 minutes west of Los Angeles. Being close to the city but also close to the land gave me access to wisdom from both the Earth and elders who had already had it all figured out. My entire creative career has blossomed from interpersonal connections- friends & friends of friends. I thank Bob Melet and Marysia Miernowska for being my past mentors in both of my fields.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The roads been smooth enough but there’s been alot of winding and sharp turns. I find that things don’ t usually execute in the way we envision. Struggles also come in many forms.. I would say I’ve suffered the most from mental (self constructed) and environmental (societally constructed) challenges.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
My peers tell me I’m into many different things – I think this has always been true for me. My offerings (right now) are two-fold. I keep a curated vintage collection that I am selling and replenishing often & I offer meditations and herbal medicine consultations. I was trained in an indigenous medicine practice of sitting with and meditating with plants, usually in tea form, for spiritual and medicinal benefits. I offer these types of meditations quite a bit. I’ve actually got a project launch upcoming with a friend of mine, Maddi Hawkes. We get people together to meditate and connect with the land.
I’ve always had trouble with branding, creating a brand or even seeing myself as a brand. So what I think I am most proud of is that my entire thing is that I’m really just true to me. True to what I love and what is meaningful to me. Clothes are fun for me- dressing up this skin suit is adornment at the end of the day. Being a human is sacred to me, the Earth is sacred to me. If I can be that and my interests somehow inspire or help others, then I can really feel good about it all.
Any big plans?
As I mentioned before, my foremost plan is launching this meditation project with Maddi. It’s called Super Sit… because its a super time sitting together. That will come some time in the Spring 2026.
I just started an Herbalism in Practice course with Andrea Jimenez from Herb Club LA. I have been loving exploring the San Gabriel Mountains. That’s been keeping me looking forward to a lot.
I think in general I love change. I try every day to do something that will help me change in a good way over time. Right now, my plans are to keep exploring my local mountain range, learning, and stretching my imagination to find fun clothes a loving home.
