Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoire Auguste-Dormeuil.
Hi Victoire, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born and raised in France and built an international career across finance, media, and entrepreneurship in Europe and the United States. Living and working across cultures shaped my worldview and reinforced my belief in the importance of dialogue and connection.
After more than two decades in Southern California, I felt drawn to mission-driven leadership that aligned with my values. Joining the Los Angeles World Affairs Council felt like a natural evolution of my journey—bringing together my global background, leadership experience, and passion for connecting people around ideas that matter.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of my biggest challenges has been leading change within a legacy organization while honoring its history. The World Affairs Council has decades of credibility and tradition, yet like many nonprofits, it must continually evolve to remain relevant, financially sustainable, and welcoming to new generations.
I stepped into a role that required rebuilding systems, re-energizing community, and rethinking engagement—all while working with limited resources.
On a personal level, transitioning from entrepreneurship and the private sector into nonprofit leadership required a shift in expectations. That transition taught me that resilience, adaptability, and clarity of purpose matter far more than perfect conditions.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I serve as Director of Membership & Advancement at the Los Angeles World Affairs Council, where I lead membership growth, strategic partnerships, and revenue development. My work focuses on strengthening the organization’s sustainability while building an engaged, diverse community around global issues.
At the heart of my role is connection—bringing together leaders from diplomacy, business, academia, and civil society to foster informed dialogue and global understanding in Los Angeles.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
One childhood memory that stayed with me was spending time in the UK to improve my English, living with a host family and meeting students from across Europe. It was my first real experience of life outside France, and it showed me how quickly borders fade when people are open and curious—an insight that continues to shape how I approach my work today
