Today we’d like to introduce you to Trianna Feruza.
Hi Trianna , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Trianna Feruza & the Heavy Hitters were a collection of musicians out of Santa Cruz california, the band consists of Trianna Feruza: Vocals & Rhythm Guitar, Ryan Ouse: Drums, Zach Latham: Bass and Josh Baldwin: Lead Guitar. Trianna, Zach and Ryan all met at Cabrillo Community College and had played music adjacently for many years before Trianna and Ryan made their first band WAVFILE and moving throughout the years into Trianna Feruza & the Heavy Hitters. Their sound—rich with Funk, Hip-Hop, Soul, Jazz, and Latin textures—is a direct reflection of their eclectic influences and lived experiences. When Josh Baldwin, a guitarist from Maine, joined the group, it was clear the lineup had found its perfect balance.
Now, with their debut album The Heavy Hitters out in the world and tours spanning the Pacific Northwest, Southern California, and beyond, the band is carving a name for themselves with a refreshing Neo-Soul sound that’s as raw and real as the stories they carry. Their music is movement—inviting, invigorating, and rooted in the power of connection.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
“We are so lucky to love what we do with everything we have,” Trianna Feruza reflects. “But making music that feeds the soul while also maintaining the appeasement of algorithms has been our weirdest conundrum to date.”
That tension—between artistic integrity and digital visibility—runs through the band’s day-to-day: booking their own tours, filming all their content, running merch tables, writing grants, and nurturing community ties. Yet when the lights hit and the groove drops, every bit of hustle becomes fuel.
“Social media aside, we are overjoyed at the sonic integrity of this record,” she says. “We love playing these tunes live, we love being on the road, and we’re ecstatic to share these songs in a way everyone can access easily.”
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
While Trianna Feruza & the Heavy Hitters are known for their genre-blending sound and killer live shows, there’s a whole other side to the band that’s bound to surprise you. Here are a few not-so-hidden talents:
Ryan Ouse, the drummer, is basically the Swiss Army knife of the band. If it makes a sound, he can probably play it—whether it’s a Piano, Synth, Bass, Guitar, or your grandma’s old tambourine.
Josh Baldwin, the lead guitarist, didn’t start in Neo-Soul—nope, he was once shredding it up in metal bands. Imagine the angst of a guitar solo, but with a soulful twist. He’s the rockstar you never knew you needed!
Zach Latham, the bass player, isn’t just holding down the low end—They’re also the Tetris Master of the band. If you’ve ever wondered how a van gets packed for a tour like a 3D game of Tetris, Zach is your person. They can fit a week’s worth of gear into a suitcase the size of a sandwich.
Trianna Feruza, the lead singer, was raised in the Belly Dance scene, and grew up singing world music and going to Haflas, also…. She is not just the voice of the band. She’s also the band’s official roadie. That’s right—while she’s wowing crowds with her vocals, she’s probably also loading gear into the van, making sure the mic stand is in the right spot, and still managing to sell merch while doing it. Can you do five things at once? If so, come commiserate!
