Conversations with Taylor Gamble

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Gamble.

Hi Taylor, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started playing guitar at the age of 11 (almost 12). I had no intentions of being in the industry although I had been surrounded by music most of my life through my parents. In 2016, I felt led to pursue a career in music after experiencing a life-changing event. I began by simply teaching private lessons and playing at my local church. Before I knew it, I ended up on a series of Gospel gigs, tours and recordings with several major artists. As people began to learn who I was, my name began to spread and I was being referred by many. I eventually got into secular and kept expanding my repertoire in various genres, working with different major artists and landing major endorsements by companies like Fender Musical Instruments and Taylor Acoustic Guitars. I’m currently working on my own personal project as I will soon be emerging as my own artist. I have found that not only is Guitar a pleasure of mine, but simply being able to create from a place of authenticity is my passion.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There were definitely bumps along the way but sometimes the best way to learn is to do. I’m a pretty simple person and I think that can throw people off because of how I dress and express myself creatively. I wasn’t interested in the politics and marketing portion of the industry which is important. I guess you can call me old school because I value one-on-one interactions more so than social media. I’m an introvert and keep a good small circle of people around which is cool to me. I want to be able to be myself as much as I possibly can. Finding new ways to inspire myself to keep going became an issue at times because I’m not always into the “popular” or “trendy” thing. I’m me and there will never be another.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’ve been told time and time again that I have a distinct sound. If you remove me from an equation, it’s definitely going to sound different! I play very tastefully and try to make sure that the overall song/band sounds good. I’m always searching for the perfect parts to play that’ll tie the whole thing together and take it to the next level.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is authenticity. Why would you want to be anyone else?! What’s for me is for me and I don’t want to force anything that isn’t. When you’re the original, you’ll never stop working and being inspired. In order for it to feel real, I believe it has to come from a genuine place.
