Conversations with Stephanie Mojica

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Mojica

Hi Stephanie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hello,
My name is Stephanie and I became a balloon stylist in July of 2021 right after I had my second born. Growing up I was always the decorator of my family. As soon as my kids were born I realized that I can pursue the event industry further and make it a small business. From that point on I kept taking courses & learned new methods & techniques in the event industry. Until this day, I continue to take courses. I choose to stay knowledgable and continue to learn new trends. I enjoy owning my business. The creativity never stops.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Owning a small business is not easy. It has its challenges. I’ve come across difficult clients in my life, however, I’ve learned not to allow others opinions & remarks get in the way of my dreams. I understand that planning an event is stressful, therefore I take that into consideration when I’m in communication with a difficult client. As a business owner, you have to learn how to communicate with clients. I have learned to stay professional. I remind myself that I am the face behind my business and I will be confident and respectful at all times. This has allowed me to prosper and secure successful events.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Stephs Decor City is a one stop shop! We provide the following: Balloon decorations, personalized party favors, backdrop rentals, marquees rentals, tables rental, chair rentals & tent rentals. Soon we will also be offering balloon classes & personalized party favor courses as well!

I am most proud of the expansion of my business. When I first started all I focused on was designing balloon garlands. I then enhanced my skills and invested in backdrops, tents, chairs & tables. In the past year I’ve learned how to customize party favors such as chips, waters, chocolate bars, candy bars, chapsticks, hand sanitizers, etc.

I provide a wide range of services. As a mother of two boys I am aware of how hectic party planning can be. Therefore, I decided to learn how to create and improve my skills for the event industry. I plan to continue to grow and add more items to my services.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is to never lose sight of the reasoning behind why I started this passion. I started my small business to release my creativity and in doing so I’ve been blessed to support my family (financially) along the way. No matter where life takes me, I don’t lose sight of the passion and love I have for this business. The reminders I receive is seeing the happiness of the clients faces after I finish setting up for their events. It is during these moments that lift up the passion I have for my business.
