Today we’d like to introduce you to Sophie Hung.
Sophie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Sophie Hung. I am a Registered Dietitian and a Certified Personal Trainer. I was born in Hong Kong, went to high school in North Carolina, then I went to UCLA to study for my Bachelor of Science (majoring in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics), then I pursued my Masters of Public Health in Nutrition from Loma Linda University (one of the 5 Blue zones in the world). I also studied abroad in Spain, Peru, Mexico, and Argentina for a year.
Since food is so culturally connected, and with my upbringing in Asia. I understand a lot of the cultural food and mindset of the Asian populations. In addition to English, I also speak Cantonese, Mandarin, and Spanish, which allows me to connect with clients who speak different languages. Over the past 14 years, I have helped thousands of Asian professionals and their parents reverse type 2 diabetes, lower cholesterol/triglycerides and blood pressure, manage chronic kidney disease, and improve gut health. I provide In-Person (near San Gabriel area) and Virtual Nutrition & Fitness and coaching, serving clients around the world.
My program is called A Healthier You Journey since Health is not just a 30-day or 60-day challenge, but a lifelong journey. I went through my own health journey as well.
My grandma spent the last 10 years of her life in bed after having a stroke. My uncle had to take a cocktail of pills every morning and had no appetite afterward to eat breakfast. Besides diabetes and stroke, my dad used have high cholesterol, and my aunt has breast cancer, and endometriosis.
I was super overwhelmed when I first learned about all these family history. But instead of trying to focus on things that I can’t change such as genetics, I try to focus on things that I can control, such as diet, exercise, stress management, and overall lifestyle. That’s why I decided to study nutrition and fitness, so that I can help myself, my family, and anyone who wants to take control of their health.
I also read about the concept of Squaring the Longevity Curve from a book called Outlive: The Science and Art of Longevity by Peter Attia. It is the concept of maintaining high function of cognition and mobility for the majority of one’s life, with a relatively short period of decline just before death instead of a gradual, prolonged decline in health as people age,
My 83-year-young dad would be the perfect example, He used to think he had to take cholesterol/diabetes medications the rest of his life, but now thanks to me helping his diet, exercise, and overall lifestyle, he is able to gradually get off them. He currently eats very healthy, mostly whole grains, seafood and plant-based proteins, eats minimal processed food and refined carbohydrates. He also walks 10K steps, goes swimming, does strength training every day and does lawn bowling twice a week. When we go on vacations together, he is able to join us for different excursions such as hiking, biking, kayaking, and snorkeling.
My mission is to empower individuals with chronic conditions to thrive, and not just survive, so they can continue to travel, spend quality time with family, and enjoy life.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being an entrepreneur is definitely not easy. Working long hours, doing tasks that I am not good at but essential for the growth of the business, etc. Investing in myself and the business by hiring different business coaches was definitely the best decision I had ever made. They have given me so much guidance and technical assistance when I was trying to build system for my business. Also, it has really sped things up compared to trying to figure things out on my own.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

Who else deserves credit in your story?
The Business Mastermind I have been part of called the Legacy Tribe (led by 3 coaches: Bedros Keuilian, Bryce Henson, Jason Redman) allows me to be surrounded by like-minded entrepreneurs. Bedros was the one who inspired me to “flip the switch” as he called it, going from doing this nutrition coaching business on the side to doing it full time 2 years ago. The coaches also talk about topics such as mindsets, systems, personal branding, investment, time management, resiliency, etc. which are all so important for entrepreneurs. Another coach I work with was Dr Matt Shiver who has helped me to optimize my social media profile, create my Video Sales Letter, set up Go High Level, which is a CRM where I book calls, send email newsletter, post daily content, and manage lead generations. He also helps with running Meta Ads,
Also, I have two wonderful Virtual Assistants in the Philippines (Sheeny and Pearl) who help me with content creations, posting content across all social media platforms, organizing my finance, help with lead generations, and any tasks that I don’t have time to do.
