Today we’d like to introduce you to Siobhan Villalva.

Hi Siobhan, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?

Siobhan fell in love with jewelry around 4th grade when she realized instead of buying ten things at Claire’s, she could save her money and buy one thing that would last forever from Tiffany’s. A girl that loves gift shops at hotels growing up at dance competitions all over. She is a local girl, born and raised in Ventura County, she enjoyed growing up on Silverstrand Beach, South Oxnard, Ventura and Thousand Oaks. Her great grandma owned a ranch in Thousand Oaks that the 101 freeway currently flows through the Hampshire exit and she is about as local as it gets! Always loving our area as well as the whole world, Siobhan became a flight attendant after moving back to California from Hawaii and and continued her love of shopping all over. Siobhan has been an international flight attendant at a major airline for over 10 years now, and she lost a lot of things traveling and never wanted this to happen again. Siobhan has created a few companies on the last couple of decades including a jewelry line called “Solimar Stoned” that she used to sell at boutiques such as Westland Surf Shop Downtown Ventura and has made jewelry since she was a kid.

Permanent jewelry is something totally unique for each person, allowing both the installer and the wearer creativity together. It allows people to live their lives and not be bothered by jewelry and most importantly, not lose it. Friends and strangers have hired Siobhan to style them over the years and look to her for fashion advise! I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Initially, it was very oherwhelming! There are so many choices & hard for this Gemini to make my mind up! There are endless websites & options with no easy yellow brick road of where to end up clicking the purchase button to have supplies. I ended up ordering a few things from Amazon because of the ease & then learned later that was not the wisest move. When I purchased my machine and opened the box at home, it was definitely not easy in many ways! The set up of the equipment looked like a maze & then performing the actual welding seemed impossible. I left everything out on my kitchen table for days, weeks and months welding on friends and family sometimes after getting dinner and drinks for hours until I got the hang of it. Most things that I have done in life seem to be naturally comfortable to me and not challenging; however, this was different. I even emailed about returning the machine, but since it was a 25% restocking fee and that was gonna be close to $1000 I decided wow I don’t wanna take that as a hit and I will keep going in persevere and I am 100% glad that I did.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I taught yoga for over a decade and then transitioned into my job as a flight attendant for a major airline and now my love for permanent Jewelry and Jewelry my whole life essentially has grown me into really focusing on the Link Bar 100%. I love helping make people feel better and feel happier on a regular basis. I’m all about really enjoying and loving your life. We get to build custom bracelets, anklet, necklaces, ear chains, and all these things that is a fun creative thing for people to do and then happiness on a daily basis where they see it and they have it on. They get to really just adorn themselves a little bit.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Currently the Link Bar is opening in different cities. We have San Diego Valencia/Santa Clarita, Ventura, and Santa Barbara and are looking to open new locations and partnerships. I personally would like to focus on the Hawaii chapter next, and I’m considering a Maui location.

Pricing:

Our bracelets are on average $75
This is only slightly above what you pay at most boutiques for gold plated which tarnishes almost immediately with contact with water
We offer a permanent jewelry training course for $750 to start your own business
Charms and connectors are $30 to customize and add on
