Today we’d like to introduce you to Shaun Parker
Hi Shaun, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Shaun Parker. Most colleagues, fellow creatives, and friends/family call me Shaun P. I’ve worked in the fashion industry since 2020, leveraging my creativity, modeling, inspiration, and compelling visuals that have impacted the masses and my community. I was born and raised in Sacramento, CA, but I do Modeling, Wardrobe Styling, Runway Styling, and Costume Styling in Los Angeles, New York, and in Sacramento. My first opportunity was modeling with and for FreeStyle Clothing Exchange (buy, sell, trade) Thrift and Vintage company. I performed PR modeling for Freestyle Clothing Exchange, provided support with sourcing for clothing and styling their models, and fashion influencing through in-person and social media presence, and still work with them currently. Then, I began modeling for another company called Shop Old Gold, where I specialized in modeling items from the 1950s-2000s. I also performed PR modeling for a brand called Daproxen, and for various other brands, companies, websites, etc. This propelled me to gain clientele (brands, civilians, families, single, etc.) who hired me to be their Wardrobe Stylist. Next, I was hired on by Lashonna Lintamo at Leyu Designs Inc., where I was tasked with styling her entire luxury brand collection for LA and NYC Fashion Weeks in 2022, where I also had to source models for LA and NYC Fashion Weeks, respectively. Fast-forward, these experiences have propelled me to Costume Designer/Stylist for movies and short films, currently. Additionally, I walked the Runway for The Model Experience, at the Fashion Week Festival, for LA Fashion Week in October 2024. I will be featured in a Florida-based Magazine in February this year, and I will be working with The Model Experience again in 2025. Also, I am currently working with a sweat-proof tee shirt brand, Thompson Tee, through a PR partnership. Furthermore, I work in PR Modeling, Wardrobe Styling, Costume Styling, Brand Modeling, Campaign Modeling, and Runway Modeling to continue inspiring others and revolutionizing the world of Fashion, using my entire repertoire.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As a Model, I have felt pressure to live up to societal beauty standards, with many hours of work and balancing the mental aspect of that as well. I have learned that not every opportunity will be available each time, but to not let that discourage me in my work and journey. I have learned that circumstances in the Fashion industry will not always be the same, and to take each opportunity in that moment and give it my all.
As, a Stylist, I must balance the creative vision of the Designer, Photographer, or Publication with the needs of the brand or client still in mind. At times, I may not always receive a large budget for every Shoot, campaign, or editorial spread that I style for. But, I use my creativity, adaptability, versatility, and skillset to achieve the vision of each and every client.
These pressures and certain obstacles have driven me to work relentlessly, each day, to ensure that all voices are heard and seen. I have always strived to be a proponent of diversity and inclusivity, with a need for greater representation of diverse models, designers, and stories.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
