Conversations with Ser Baffo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ser Baffo.

Hi Ser, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
How did I get my start?

In 2017, I was given the opportunity by Director Ava DuVernay to provide photography coverage for Jay-Z’s short form video “Family Feud.”

After completing the assignment, I received some invaluable advice on how to turn this passion into a full-fledged career and the rest, as they say, is history.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey has been an interesting one. I’ve been truly blessed and fortunate, as the road has treated me generously.

That said, one of the biggest challenges is often just finding the right information and knowing the proper steps to get started.

At the end of the day, everyone can use a little help getting off the ground, even if that help is simply a nudge in the right direction.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
In short, I’m a photographer, I shoot everything!

But right now, my focus and creativity are centered in the film and TV space.

I’m known for capturing images that speak without saying a word.

As the late, great photographer Bruno Barbey once said, “Photography is the only language that can be understood anywhere in the world.”

What I’m most proud of is that I had the chance to share my work and experiences with my mom, who played a huge role in my journey and success before her passing.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was a bit of a knucklehead always going against the grain.

Football eventually became my focus, and I played all the way through college. After my junior year,
I decided to hang up my cleats, which opened up time for me to explore the entertainment and media world.

Looking back, I realize that passion might’ve been planted much earlier. As a kid, I watched my dad constantly with a camera or camcorder in hand, capturing every moment. Subconsciously, I was taking it all in—without knowing how much it would later shape me.
