Today we’d like to introduce you to Roxy Astor
Hi Roxy , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m Roxy Astor from the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling 80s tv show, I wanted to reunite the fans and Glow girls, so I did my first Afterglow Fan Party after raising $5,000 on go fund me.. my first event was with 11 Original Glow girls and the fans including Matilda The Hun, this is when we became good friends, Sine then I have Created and Produced 4 Afterglow Cruises, created and Produced Afterglow 80s musical experience… we went on to win Best Ensemble of the Decade and our Director Chris Carver won Best Director of the Decade, Right before COVID Matilda The Hun was admitted to the Hospital where she remained until her death, My best friend Robert Nguyen and I would take turns visiting her to keep her spirits up, I even brought my friend David Navarro along to the hospital because he is writing a screenplay about her and she wanted to tell her story… unfortunately she died a few years ago. Robert and myself wanted to keep our promise to her .. that we would never let people forget our friend Matilda The Hun….. so we decided to write a 2 person play, rent a theater at the Zephyr and tell our stories about Matilda… The play is called Matilda The Hun .. The Raw Meat, we also put up a
Memorabilia exhibit with Matilda’s wrestling gear… we were nominated 10 times from Broadway World, and we ended up with 3 Broadway World awards … now we are bringing it back to the Hollywood Fringe in June
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The struggles were definitely getting the Glow girls on board after 30 years, Covid and while visiting Matilda in the hospital my daughters fiancé died during Covid and my boyfriend went into the hospital for a heart transplant…struggling just to keep my head together, that is why I brought Robert Nguyen in to visit Matilda because he lived closer to her and he is a preacher..
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m Roxy Astor one of the Original Glow girls that can make things happen,
I also do Hair Extensions, and my big passion will always be Animals, I have been working with rescues and people just reaching out to help rehome their dog or cat because of bad situations, I don’t turn anyone down, My daughters gave me the nickname Roxy Mode..
I do all this out of passion (The AfterGlow events) for the love of the fans and it’s never about money,, I’m not rich but I will do anything to save one dog or cat and even squirrels
What sets me apart ? Is that I actually care
What matters most to you?
Getting Matilda’s story out because I promised her and doing it my friends Robert Nguyen and David Navarro
Saving Animals, reaching out to people that don’t know about the resources that are available to keep your pet in the home
And of course MY KIDs are what always keep me going, to this day they can’t figure out how and why I do so much
