Today we’d like to introduce you to Rose Kreider.
Hi Rose, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my journey in 2020 when I began modeling, acting and doing runway. I was in small gigs and runway shows for a year, which also included New York fashion week twice. In 2021, I was a featured actor in a short film here in Seattle. By observing the director’s role, and the people behind the scenes, that inspired me to create my own. That night after the movie premiere, I had a dream about my first film, The Woman, woke up and wrote it down in my journal that I always have by my bed and sat on the idea for a couple of days until I reached out to my author friend, who is a co-writer on the screenplay. We decided to finalize the film in two weeks and I begin casting in my unorthodox way just a month later. Four months later the movie premiered in theaters locally. It’s been just over a year now, with the premiere of The Woman releasing on March 13, 2022. Since then, it is a feature film on many streaming platforms, including Tubi TV, and in 42 countries worldwide. It has also been streamed over 10,000 times!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s definitely had its ups and downs! My first film was a learning curve for everyone involved. I hired people her first time, cinematographers, first-time production assistant, and so on. We all have great careers now in the film industry and I feel like my film boosted us all. After releasing The Woman, I began working with other screenplay writers who passed me along their work and created movies. My second film, a Room by the Road is a short crime/thriller that is available in five countries and on some free streaming platforms and that one was pretty smooth sailing. I am in to pre-production films and one post-production film currently. The post-production film that I am currently in has been very difficult, to say the least. I had to recast, not one, not to, but three times. We also had to deal with weather conditions and location changes last minute. We also had some hick-ups on set. But, I am a very patient person and have learned to stay calm under stress. As a good director, you have to remember to be flexible, stay cool, calm and collected and reassure your cast and crew that everything will work out in the end.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have a background at the corporation Microsoft here in Washington for the past nine years. With work flexibility and allows me to be creative after work and on the weekends. On top of still proactively modeling in our Seattle industry and doing photo shoots when I can, being invited to the runway, shows, and acting in small projects here and there, I am actively searching for more collaborations to team up with other film creators, who like to make shorts and features. I am also a small business owner with my essential oils business called Belle Âme, which means beautiful soul. My Instagram for my essential oils is. @oilsbyrose. I also just started painting! I love abstract art, and I have started creating and selling just as of last week. Very exciting, as I love to continue my creative outlet and many different avenues and I don’t just stop with film.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my many favorite childhood memories was going up in Kirkland, Washington, driving to the beach with my mom and listening to Blind Melon, Duran Duran, Tears for Fears, and REM. My happy place is on the beach, whether it’s a lake or an ocean with my dogs and my significant other. Every time I go to Kirkland or the beaches along Lake Washington, I always reminisce on that favorite childhood memory.
