Conversations with Oscar Negrete

Today we’d like to introduce you to Oscar Negrete

Hi Oscar, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started working at the flower market in downtown Los Angeles and it was my first job when I came to live in Los Angeles. One of my uncles found me this job. I was in charge of putting the flowers in water, processing them, and selling them. I started making small bouquets of different flowers. That’s how I felt that this was my passion, being able to work with flowers. Learning from great florists and working for them is how I became a floral designer

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As an immigrant, the only obstacle at first was being able to speak English. I took English classes, and after that everything was easier.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a floral designer and I specialize in events such as weddings, corporate parties, birthdays, event producer and I currently do floral workshops. I have been on some Spanish-speaking television channels teaching how to make a floral arrangement and I believe that I distinguish myself from others by teaching my people how to make bouquets and centerpieces at a low cost..

What does success mean to you?
For me, success is the satisfactory result and effort of our work or projects and the satisfaction of our dreams and aspirations.
