Today we’d like to introduce you to Noelia Maribel
Noelia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Growing up, my mom encouraged my brother and me to try new hobbies and not fear failure. This mindset shaped my childhood as I explored various sports, from basketball to mma. While I didn’t exactly excel in athletics, I’m glad I tried new things and pushed myself out of my comfort zone.
In high school, I discovered my true passions: photography and music. I always enjoyed taking pictures on my phone. I found beauty in everyday moments and started capturing images that resonated with me.
Music has also played a significant role in my life. For seven years, I played the saxophone in the school band, which enhanced my musical skills and allowed me to combine my love for music and photography. Attending concerts and creating music became essential parts of my identity and was starting to get known that that was kind of my thing around school and random house shows I would attend for my friend band on the weekends
In 2017, I launched my Maribelarchive account. This platform has become a place for me to showcase my photography. I was mainly focusing on my brother and interesting architecture. My style featured heavily saturated edits done on VSCO.
In 2018, I began to incorporate poetry into my photography, pairing my images with words to convey deeper emotions. This fusion helped me connect more with different audiences, and I even submitted my work to online zines. As I grew more confident, I started taking self-portraits to express myself even further.
I still incorporate high saturation in my work and experiment with film. I don’t have a set style, and that’s what makes it fun for me—trying new things and exploring different creative avenues. From concert photography, to portraits, to car photography I’m glad I’ve tried it and will continue to explore new ideas and find new muses. I will continue to explore my passions, blending photography and music in ways that inspire me and will continue to try new hobbies along the way.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It wasn’t a smooth road and I still don’t expect it to be. I would fall into phases where I wasn’t shooting for months at a time because I was in such a creative rut from comparing my work to other artists. At that point and time I was posting for others and not truly for my self enjoyment.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a photographer who has fun with her work. I specialize in portraits and concert photography. I am known for my magazine inspired portraits. I love the y2k magazine look and have been making faux magazine covers but might make that into a zine some day! I am proud of where I’m at and how I’ve pushed myself to be part of art shows, shoutout Outstruck for always have a space for artists in the LA area, I’m proud of the artistic styles I’ve tried and proud that I am posting for my own enjoyment not focused too much on the engagement aspect of social media. There will always be an audience for everything. I love supporting local creators and always super excited to help people get into their creative space.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I am on social media always looking for new ideas and people to take pictures of. I can be found on insta @maribelarchive !
