Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Goesseringer Muj.
Hi Nicole, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
This is my second Voyage LA interview, so I will sort of continue from where I left off. Briefly to recap, I was born and raised in rural Ontario, Canada, but from early on, I knew I would be working in Hollywood and international showbiz. I studied Slavic Studies at the University of Ottawa and Communications at the University of Texas at Austin and California State University, Fullerton. I was able to combine my international culture and public relations specialties as I embarked on my career, working with top names and companies in global lifestyle and entertainment, including E!, NBC Universal, USA TV Productions, Davines, and many others. Eventually, I launched my own company, Kultura PR International (www.kulturapr.com). I work closely with Gotham Chandna, Cloud 21 PR (www.cloud21.com), on many projects, combining my specialty of traditional PR with Gotham’s expertise in digital marketing. We make a great team!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There are always small struggles, but I must admit that my road has been quite smooth. I have worked and continue to work with some of the most renowned names and companies in the industry, including E! founder Larry Namer, NBC Universal Television, award-winning filmmakers, music and film/tv artists and talent, etc. I truly love my work, my clients and their projects.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am most proud these days of the work I am doing with my longtime business partner Gotham Chandna. Together, we established in 2019 the French Riviera Film Festival (www.frenchrivierafilmfestival.com), an annual festival held in Cannes, France that celebrates short films and short-form content. We also work together on many film projects, from handling the PR/digital marketing campaigns for top festivals and the Oscars to working on the productions themselves, securing lead talent, funding and distribution. Together, we also produce a very successful event series promoting filmmakers and film industry executives during Cannes Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, Academy Awards, MIPCOM and American Film Market. We also are the co-publishers of Indie Entertainment Media magazine (www.indieentertainmentmedia.com). What sets us apart is that we understand all sides of our business and can develop creative strategies to help our clients with their ultimate goals.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The best lesson I have learned is to not fret too much when something negative happens. In my business, I value loyalty and honesty, and unfortunately, sometimes, a colleague or partner does not demonstrate these qualities. It’s always shocking to me, as I always try to act fairly and ethically, and become very disappointed when others don’t or try to mimic our work. I guess it is true what the great Oscar Wilde said, “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness.”
