Conversations with Natalie Mal

Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie Mal.

Hi Natalie, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always been fascinated by our creative human minds, and with creativity being one, if not, the most valuable skill for the future, I decided to dive deep into exploring: What is it that makes us creative?

My curiosity has taken the form of an interdisciplinary study of the mind. I earned degrees in Cognitive Science and Fine Art from UC Berkeley. While an undergraduate, I created and taught an accredited course called “Art and Science” to empower my peers to enhance their creativity by exploring connections across various disciplines of art and science. I became fascinated by our ability to bring abstract visions to physical life through conscious and mindful approaches. These academic pursuits sparked my desire to share what I had learned in bigger ways that could be accessible and experiential.

I embarked on a career in personal development. I had the opportunity to work directly with Tony Robbins, an internationally renowned Business Strategist, and Motivational Speaker, supporting his content needs at his live events all around the world. I then went on to manage the Women’s Multicultural Leadership Program for Executives and Entrepreneurs at the University of Southern California. I have independently contributed content services for Success Magazine’s online educational courses, and I’ve also supported other thought leaders in developing their educational content.

Working among brilliant minds and witnessing their incredible impact, I felt inspired to advance my leadership and to step into becoming a coach myself. I took the leap, and I have since gone on to complete a Yoga Teacher Certification and Jungian Life Coaching Certification. I currently have my own coaching practice where I combine what I have learned to offer private coaching and yoga services online to individuals seeking to further their personal development. I love what I do, and I feel very grateful to work with my clients while they bring their visions to life.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My biggest challenge has also been my biggest teacher, which is my personal health. I’ve had an autoimmune condition for 12 years. In a beautifully unexpected way, this experience has shaped me into a woman with a strong purpose.

When I was first diagnosed, my life halted to a stop. I had to change everything to slow down and tend to my health. Having been so ambitious up to this point, stopping was foreign. I spent a lot of time observing and listening to my body, taking time to understand its messages and wisdom about my condition.

My path of healing has been one of embodiment, of bridging the mind and the body. I embraced the practice of Yoga and learned how intelligent of a system it is beyond the benefits of fitness and stress relief. It supported me to make sense of the abrupt changes in my life and the resulting shifts in my identity as well as to improve my health. I found peace with my experience by deepening my connection with my spirituality through Yoga.

I believe this is the gift I received and get to pay forward, which is in sum a path to remembering our true self, this part of us that is beyond our physical self or limitations. When we are connected with this core aspect of our being, we also have access to our unlimited creativity.

I have come to understand how deeply interconnected the mind, emotions, body, energy, and spirituality are and how they influence our overall well-being. I also have learned various holistic approaches to bridging the mind and the body. In turn, I have the unique ability to combine different modalities in both a structured and intuitive way that’s specific to a client’s needs.

I feel honored to share what I have learned through my own struggles to empower others to also rise in their optimal health, to redefine their relationship with their challenges, and to take action on their dreams.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As a Jungian Life Coach and Yoga Teacher, I offer private coaching and yoga sessions online to individuals seeking to further their personal development. I primarily work with leaders who are ready to bring their deeper, soulful visions to life and start to build their legacy.

The late E.O. Wilson stated, “We are drowning in information while starving for wisdom. The world henceforth will be run by synthesizers, people able to put together the right information at the right time, think critically about it, and make important choices wisely.”

In this modern time where our attention is challenged by technological distractions and an influx of information, I offer my clients a customized growth experience so they can cut through the noise and maintain focus on their goals. I bring everything I have learned into my coaching services to offer a creative combination of intuitive, spiritual aliveness coupled with intentional, strategic leadership skills.

Using Social Neuroscience, Eastern Spirituality, and Jungian-Based Shadow Work, I guide clients to build awareness for what’s holding them back and empower them to resource solutions from within. Through the process of individuation, clients gain a conscious understanding of their unconscious patterns, creating opportunities to liberate themselves. I also offer yogic mind-body exercises to support the integration of their growth so they can fully embody their truest self and create impactful success.

For those who are curious about coaching with me, I offer a complimentary clarity call through my website https://nataliemal.com/complimentary-clarity-session/

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I love to dance as a form of self-expression, personal exploration, and community recreation. As half-Indian, I grew up with music and dance all around me, and they both have continued to be a natural part of my life. In the past few years, I’ve also been performing as a fire dancer.

I believe engaging in play and not taking ourselves too seriously is instrumental and nourishing for the human spirit. Dance is one of my favorite ways I enjoy and process the mystery that is life.
