Today we’d like to introduce you to Moishe Ham
Hi Moishe, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was a terrible student in school and academia made me feel inadequate, so I found solace in art, graffiti, dance, and video games. I had a friend who took his art seriously and advised me to do the same. I found concept art mentors who were some of the best in the world and I wanted my skills to reach their level
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The biggest struggle for me was focus. Distractions were everywhere, and to better myself, I had to dedicate time to my craft. I didn’t want to work jobs unrelated to my career, but the constant noise and unexpected life mishaps are always looming around the corner. It’s a process, but we all go through the cycle of self-doubt, and life often throws a curve ball trying to derail you from your goals.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in entertainment design. It’s an industry that encompasses solving design prompts for films, TV, video games, commercials, advertising, and many other visual forms of communication. It’s a field I’m grateful to be in, and I’m proud to work on projects that inspire others. My experiences growing up in LA help me to add nuance to my stories and design. In this industry, ideas and communication are everything
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I used to be a pretty aggressive kid growing up. LA can be rough, and showing signs of vulnerability can make you a target, so I often walked around with a chip on my shoulder. I’m not getting into details, but my ego made me aggressive towards others outside of school. I never showed this side of me with my school friends, but the ones I would hang around back home knew. I’ve wanted to be infamous for tagging and graffiti, but I had to grow up eventually. lol
