Conversations with Michael It’z

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael It’z.

Hi Michael, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started making music at 15, playing a little guitar at first since I mainly listened to rock music when I was younger until I came across “Kid A” by Radiohead that introduced me to electronic music for the first time after that I shifted to make electronic music exclusively

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It’s never been easy especially coming from a place where I have to sacrifice a lot in term of time and money in order to be able to make my own music. Working a full-time job in London leaves you little to no spare time to spend during the day so it’s a real struggle to fully dedicate myself to it as much as I would like, but obviously, I still need to do it to invest on my instruments and the technology needed to be able to do it. It’s also a hard pill to swallow that even after putting all of this effort into it you don’t always get the recognition you hope for.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As for now I just finished working on my latest project, my new album called Chromatic Nostalgia that will be out in December (released by Shimmering Moods Records an ambient label from Amsterdam) https://soundcloud.com/michaelitz/album-preview and I also featured on the album ‘Convergence’ by the English artist Sleep Orchestra where I made a remix of one of his tracks. I’m constantly working on new music and always trying to find interesting artists which to collaborate with.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Lockdown for me has been crucial because it gave me the chance to completely dedicate myself to music for the first time after a while. I finally had the time to finish my album AMO RE, a very important album for me since I was working on it for years but only managed to release it thanks to that particular situation. So even if I’m aware of the terrible repercussions that Covid-19 had globally and I genuinely wish it never happened, I’m also glad that it gave me time to focus on my art without having to worry about the clock ticking, and also spend quality time with my family.
