Today we’d like to introduce you to Martesha Haynes-Lagard. They and their team shared their story with us below:
“Texas Size Impact”
Martesha Haynes-Lagard is a woman with a mission – to help bring positive change to her communities and the world. As the CEO and Founder of Social Good In Action Incorporated, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, Martesha’s two-fold vision of connecting to issues within the community and providing comfort and resources to those in need has seen countless successes in her home state of Texas, as well as in other areas of the U.S. and abroad.
A native of Austin, Texas, Martesha has been an employee in both the Houston Independent School District and Aldine ISD for over 15 years. She has made great strides in helping those in need during times of natural disasters, such as in Flint, Haiti, Uganda, Galveston, Austin, Dallas, Dickinson, LaPort, and Uvalde, just to name a few. She has provided support and resources to families as well as assistance to the homeless and senior citizens, and has done so through volunteer organizations such as the Houston Food Bank, the National Association of Community Disaster Relief, the Houston Police Department, and churches in the local area.
In recognition of Martesha’s tireless dedication to helping others, Mayor Sylvester Turner of Houston has granted her a very special day; she has also received various awards and certificates from President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden, U.S. House Representative Ted Poe, and local and national award organizations.
Martesha’s platform has had a huge impact in the community and around the world. She has been on the frontlines of delivery, and during Hurricane Harvey, even helped with Coast Guard rescue teams and the Houston HBFF Association. Through Social Good In Action, Inc., Martesha is committed to the mission of educating and empowering people from all walks of life, and, most recently, she spearheaded the 100,000 Cases for Flint, Michigan project. Hundreds of thousands of bottles of water were collected at Rusk Elementary School and Sonrise Community Church for this cause.
In short, Martesha is a true inspiration to us all. Her unwavering determination to improve the lives of those in need has not gone unnoticed and has left a “Texas Size” impact. Through her leadership, we can continue to make the world a better place, one person at
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it has not been a smooth road. There have been several obstacles and challenges along the way. Some of the struggles include:
– Financial constraints: Lack of funding or limited resources can pose a significant challenge. It may hinder the development or expansion of the project, limit marketing efforts, or restrict the hiring of skilled personnel.
– Team dynamics: Building and managing a cohesive team can be challenging. Conflicts, lack of motivation, or skill gaps within the team can hinder progress and impact overall productivity.
– Scaling operations: As a business grows, scaling operations can be a significant challenge. Ensuring that processes, systems, and infrastructure can handle increased demand while maintaining quality can be a complex task.
– Building brand awareness and establishing a loyal client base can be time-consuming and require significant effort.
– Uncertainty and risk: Entrepreneurship inherently involves risk and uncertainty. Dealing with the unknown, making tough decisions, and managing risks can be mentally and emotionally challenging.
Overall, overcoming these obstacles and challenges requires resilience, adaptability, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
