Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Wulfenheizen.
Hi Kimberly , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey began in 2015 shortly after I graduated a pattern making and design school which birthed my first brand titled after myself “Wulfenheizen”. My journey continued into art as I refined my skills between 2017-2019. Eventually I began selling my own paintings and art in different forms from clothing, to pieces, stickers, patches, hats etc. I received my own art gallery for the whole month of July in Norwalk and had a piece up for display in the Pomona Art Alley Gallery for 3 months. In 2022 I began training as a Latin dancer and have continued to fund my training amongst now running a 2nd clothing brand based off in LA, titled: New Age Ambitions.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey has not always been linear nothing in life really is. The arts have always been instilled in me as much as my love for animals have been a cornerstone to my make up. My grandmother was a hustler in negotiations and a seamstress. I have known adversity in the forms of deep depression, poverty, doubt in whether I’m as great as I truly believed myself to be, and frustrations in growing pains that have stolen grace and motivation. Ultimately dancing has reminded me of the discipline required to go the distance. Dancing as well is not easy or for the faint of heart especially if you didn’t have the most supportive community or upbringing. Eventually you learn to be your own best friend and to embrace the you transcending into the type of greatness that can uplift others aside from just yourself. No one ever made it on their own and no one ever starts phenomenal but the skills coveted to being great is something even on your down days you mustn’t give in to the lows! You must rise and reach all you’ve always wanted to be and beyond.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Workwise I have done a variety of things from handling textiles to quality control, caregiving, and most recently I was an educator to minors and children, tutoring/teaching them in whatever subject they required the most support in. My speciality however is creating original works. It’s where most of my passion projects come from. New Age Ambitions is a starter company I began with my friend where we aim to create clothing for casual, sporty, athletic or leisure comforts. Our motto is “For ambitious hustlers, and limitless minds” Our company is about 3 months old and has a growing momentum. What sets me apart from others is my level of versatility mentally. I have a lust for life and compassion/interest for many things while remaining head strong in my morals and convictions, regardless I’d consider myself elastic and a woman who is in touch with her feminity transmuted into never staying stagnant. If there’s any way I can push myself to excellence I’ll do it. I have devotion to being the best version of myself and to bring quality and soul laid bare through art.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Fear is your friend, it lets you know where’s the next area you need to face and work at. Never let someone else’s opinion of anything invade your love for something or your vision for something, feedback is fine but know when it’s coming from a constructive place of a hateful place. Ultimately take anything with stride. We are our own biggest adversary and at the same time we don’t have to be, make friends with yourself. Love yourself so much that any mistake you make inspires you to keep going and feel proud of your starter moments. Know the universe isn’t lacking in opportunity don’t fear missing out on things your moment is coming but you won’t know when its coming all you can do is prepare yourself to the best of your resources. Take Business classes: Management Principles to learn how you can control, lead, conduct yourself within companies and teams. Take any course that well mentors you into structure that’ll create avenues to lay the foundation so the next person who will guide you onto the journey you deserve can step into your world on sure footing to help get you where you want to go. I’m living proof that nothing ever came easy, I lived in tough neighborhoods, had a single parent household, lived a psychologically distressing adolescence, yet I’m still standing but not just that living and thriving, so Will you.
