Hi Kat Martin, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
We’re just two lady bartenders who met by chance when another bartender called out sick… and the rest? Well, that’s history.
From the moment we met, we realized we had way too much in common for it to be coincidence—same birthday, same car, same tireless work ethic, and the same passion for creating unforgettable experiences. We quickly learned we shared even more than that: a deep love for performance, creativity, and holistic living.
Together, we founded Up With A Twist Events, a mobile bartending company that blends high-end service with heart, wellness, and artistry. Beyond bartenders, we’re both performers at heart—Kat is a gifted singer and holistic voice coach who’s led powerful women’s retreats, and Amilia is a Latin ballroom dancer, aerialist, holistic nutritionist, and longtime birth doula.
Our creativity spills into every aspect of our business—from the way we set up our bar displays to the way we build each menu with care and intention. We’re deeply passionate about wellness, clean ingredients, and sustainability. Kat is mindful of every product she uses and has a fierce love for sustainable living and conscious recycling. Amilia has supported hundreds of families through postpartum healing and brings a wealth of knowledge around nutrition and functional wellness.

Every sip is crafted with high-quality, real ingredients—adaptogens, herbs, minerals, and tinctures that support the body and uplift the mood. We like to say our mocktails help you glow from the inside out. And for those who enjoy a cocktail, we elevate the classics with fresh-pressed juices, botanicals, and beautiful, intentional garnishes.
Over the past three years, we’ve bartended hundreds of events—from backyard parties to luxe retreats, bridal showers to 400-person weddings. We’ve served celebrities, mamas-to-be, and everyone in between. What drives us is our shared mission: to bring joy, connection, and nourishment to every gathering.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road—but it’s been a meaningful one.
We built Up With A Twist Events from the ground up without investors, formal business training, or a roadmap—just passion, grit, and a lot of late nights. I’ve homeschooled two boys while building this business, often working nights and weekends to provide for my family. Kat has cared for her parents with devotion and grace, all while showing up fully for our clients and the creative work we do. Together, we’ve balanced caregiving, entrepreneurship, and service—while still chasing a bigger vision.
There have been slow seasons, financial strain, and moments of burnout. We’ve had to navigate emotional hardships, personal healing journeys, and the pressure of constantly being “on” while pouring into everyone else. Because we didn’t grow up with connections in the event or wellness industries, we’ve had to learn everything from scratch—branding, marketing, SEO, licensing, logistics—all while staying true to our values.
Despite it all, we’ve never lost our love for what we do. These challenges have made us more intentional about our mission: to create beautiful, soul-filled experiences that nourish people from the inside out. Whether it’s a luxury event or a small gathering, we show up with heart, excellence, and authenticity—because we know what it took to get here.

At our core, we’re performers and artists who simply never stopped creating — we just found new stages. For Kat and me, bartending isn’t just about pouring drinks — it’s about curating an atmosphere, evoking emotion, and crafting something beautiful and memorable every single time.
Kat is a holistic voice coach and singer with a background in performance and leading women’s retreats. I’m a Latin ballroom dancer and aerialist, as well as a holistic nutritionist and birth doula. We’re both creatives to the bone — and that pours into everything we do with Up With A Twist Events.
What sets us apart is the way we combine artistry and wellness into our work. We don’t just serve drinks — we create immersive, nourishing, elevated beverage experiences. Our mocktail bars are handcrafted with ingredients like adaptogens, tinctures, fresh herbs, and minerals — drinks that taste amazing but also make you feel good. And when we serve cocktails, we elevate them with cold-pressed juices, superfood garnishes, and a deep attention to detail.
We specialize in wellness-based bartending — crafting menus that reflect the energy of the event and the values of our clients. From luxury weddings to intimate retreats, our goal is to help people feel seen, celebrated, and cared for.
What I’m most proud of is that we’ve stayed true to who we are. We built this business from scratch as two women navigating life, caregiving, creativity, and entrepreneurship. And now we get to show up with our full selves — artists, healers, women of faith — and pour that energy into every event we serve.
