Today we’d like to introduce you to Karrie Ozyuk.
Hi Karrie , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
From Bicycles to Bodies: How One Entrepreneur Redefined Strength and Wellness in Los Angeles
For more than two decades, I thrived in the fast-paced world of bicycle retail—owning and managing stores, leading teams, and cultivating communities built around movement and connection. My expertise as a Body Geometry Custom Bike Fit Specialist allowed me to help cyclists unlock new levels of performance and comfort, merging precision with human potential.
But after 23 years, I felt the call to take a leap of faith & love. I moved to Los Angeles, carrying with me not just my business acumen, but my deep belief that wellness is multidimensional and personal. That risk became the foundation for FitCASA LA—a private micro-gym nestled in Highland Park where I now serve as an Integrative Wellness Guide.
My education in exercise science, integrative health, and functional medicine fuels a unique approach that bridges evidence-based strength training with a holistic framework I call the DESTRESS Protocol: diet, exercise, stress, toxins, rest, emotions, supplements, and success mindset. It’s not about doing more for the sake of more—it’s about discerning what truly serves your body, your energy, and your longevity.
At FitCasa LA, I guide clients through tailored strength training programs and wellness coaching that focus on movement quality, metabolic health, and sustainable results. My mission is simple yet profound: to help people not only build strength but enhance their healthspan.
What began as a career fitting bikes is now a calling to fit people into their strongest, most resilient lives.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The Reality Behind the Leap
While my story may sound like a clean arc of reinvention, the truth is, it hasn’t been a smooth road. Entrepreneurship rarely is.
One of the biggest challenges has been time. To truly serve people, you can’t just hand them a program—you have to get to know them. Their goals, their fears, their history, their motivations. That level of understanding doesn’t happen in an hour. It takes client after client, conversation after conversation, to build the experience and the intuition to know how to guide them best. Those hours are the unseen work that most people never realize sits behind every session.
Then there’s the challenge of finding the right niche. When you start a new business, especially in wellness, the temptation is to try to serve everyone. But serving everyone means serving no one well. I had to go through the hard process of identifying my own strengths and weaknesses, refining what I offer, and discerning exactly where I can create the most impact. That discernment has been one of my greatest teachers.
And of course, there are the universal challenges of running a small business: managing your time, wearing every hat, and learning how to balance work with life. It’s easy to pour everything into the business and forget that balance is not a luxury—it’s essential. I remind myself often that the same longevity and resilience I coach my clients to build is what I need to embody in my own life.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Integrative Wellness as a Creative Practice
My work as an Integrative Wellness Guide is not traditional, nor is it linear. While some see training and coaching as simply sets, reps, or diet plans, I see it as a creative process—curating health in a way that is both art and science.
At FitCASA LA, the private micro-gym I founded in Highland Park, I guide clients through strength training and wellness coaching rooted in my DESTRESS Protocol. My background in exercise science, integrative health, and functional medicine gives me the tools, but what sets me apart is how I weave those tools together for each person—no two programs look the same.
I also integrate Human Design into my coaching, a framework that helps me understand how my clients are wired to make decisions, process energy, and navigate stress. When I bring Human Design into wellness, I can tailor not only the physical plan but also the way I deliver it—so my clients receive guidance in a way that lands and empowers them to act.
I’m known for being reliable, steady, and deeply committed. My clients trust me to teach them how to build strength safely, with clear guidance and an intuitive eye for movement. What I’m most proud of is my ability to work with each individual closely—not with a cookie-cutter plan, but with designed coaching that honors their uniqueness.
What truly sets me apart is my intuitive empathy—a gift for seeing people more clearly than they often see themselves. I can spot patterns, hear the story under the surface, and reflect it back in a way that’s digestible and actionable. My ability to explain things simply and practically allows clients to make meaningful changes without overwhelm.
In a city that thrives on doing more, I stand for doing what matters—helping people build strong bodies, resilient minds, and lives of longevity. That is my creative work, my craft, and my calling.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Finding a Mentor and Building Connections
When it comes to finding a mentor, my experience has been both fortunate and intentional. As an Integrative Health Practitioner, I am part of an extensive nationwide community of thousands of practitioners. We connect through social media, email, and regular optional meetings—weekly and monthly—where we continue our education, share ideas, support one another, and trade client stories and testimonials. That built-in network has been an incredible source of mentorship and inspiration.
Networking hasn’t been the primary driver of my business. FitASA LA has grown mainly through word-of-mouth referrals. I’ve been blessed to work closely with clients who feel seen, supported, and guided. That level of commitment naturally inspires them to recommend me to their friends, families, and colleagues. For me, the best form of networking has been simple: serve people well, pour passion into their success, and let the results speak for themselves.
