Today we’d like to introduce you to Kallion Doss
Hi Kallion, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, and music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Coming from a family of artists and music lovers, I was surrounded by the sounds of legends like Whitney Houston, Anita Baker, Aretha Franklin, Sam Cooke, and Marvin Gaye, Al green. Growing up in a household that embraced R&B, soul, jazz, blues, rock and roll, hip-hop, and even country, I naturally gravitated toward music.
I started as a songwriter, inspired by my father and artists like Babyface, Missy Elliott, Timberland, and R. Kelly. At 14, I began writing for small local plays, honing my craft for two years before realizing I wanted to explore my own voice. By 16, I joined a vocal group, but after it disbanded, I refocused on songwriting, collaborating with local mixtape artists.
In 2015, I took a brief hiatus, but when I returned, I won a contest hosted by BET’s youth program, which solidified my place as both a singer and songwriter. In 2016, I attended the Los Angeles Film School to study music production and audio engineering, giving me the technical skills to shape my sound. By 2017, I started releasing music as a solo artist, developing my unique style and storytelling ability.
Today, my passion is creating music that resonates deeply with people, forging connections that turn listeners into lifelong supporters. My journey has been full of lessons, but through it all, I’ve stayed dedicated to my artistry and the impact I want to make.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey has been anything but smooth. Life has a way of challenging one’s joy and passion, often compounded by difficult interactions with others. I’ve faced financial hardships during my growth and endured family losses that left me discouraged. Yet, music has always been my anchor, serving as a therapeutic outlet that helps me realign and heal. These life lessons have endowed me with a unique language that speaks to both the mind and the heart.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a singer, songwriter, producer, driving instructor, and an author in the making—with more titles to come in the future. While I take pride in my work, what I’m most proud of is the person I am. No matter what life throws my way, I strive to keep my heart pure and do right by others. Integrity and resilience are at the core of everything I do, and I feel that’s what truly sets me apart.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I believe the most important quality for success is the ability to stand alone when necessary. You have to be fearless, ambitious, and teachable. It’s also crucial to be understanding and a team player. Success comes from not only mastering your craft but also having the confidence to bring your skills and talents into any room and make an impact
