Today we’d like to introduce you to Kait Rancipher.
Kait, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I lost my first husband unexpectedly in 2021 and was left with three kids ages 4, 3 and one. We were planning on moving out of state and so I had slightly given up my career and hair in Los Angeles but the day we ended up moving was the day he passed away so we ended up staying in in Los Angeles. I didn’t have a place to work as I was working from home and we sold our house to move to Arizona so I was in search of a place to work once we decided to stay back in Los Angeles. In the meantime, my current husband and I had been good friends and he happened to be friends with my late husband and we hit it off and decided to get married. We blended our families so now between the two of us we have four kids. We opened our first salon last year in November in Studio City and it went really well for us. We realize there was a need in our market for a luxury salon in the valley as it seemed a lot of clients were driving to Beverly Hills in West Hollywood to get their hair done. My husband is a designer and a builder, and he really encouraged me to step into the role of ownership. I’ve been doing hair in Los Angeles for 17 years and prior to this just never had an opportunity to open my own space. We had been open in our first location for a year and then realized that we wanted to expand even further and so we opened our next location also in Studio City In November. Our salon downstairs is much larger and the one upstairs is more of like our boutique. It has been a lofty adventure so far and it has been just the beginning of journey of working together as a family and opening a space where all in our community can come and feel at home. We look forward to serving the Studio City community for the next decade at least.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It seems there’s obstacles to every business however we are choosing to see the obstacles and challenges as learning blocks and ways to better our business so nothing monumental thus far
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in hair Color
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I went to college for recreational therapy and psychology and wanted to become a tennis pro before doing hair
