Today we’d like to introduce you to Julie Russell.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started working in radio in the Promotions/Marketing department back home in Boston while still in college. I was working bar/club nights with the DJ’s at the station for years. There seemed to be a market that was missing in the nightlife scene with pop music. I brought it up to a few friends in the nightlife scene and said this is my idea what do you think and then Fangirl Fantasy came to life. While working in radio I was also working in the influencer scene, going on tours as the VIP Coordinator, working conventions and other types of projects. This leads me out to Los Angeles at the end of 2020 to work with a few different influencers and content creators. I have been working as their day-to-day manager for two years now.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There have definitely been a bunch of bumps in the road. I think the biggest thing is learning who you can trust and separating personal from business relationships.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am the founder and CEO of Fangirl Fantasy. Fangirl Fantasy is the ultimate fangirl experience created by a fangirl for a fangirl. A night where all your favorite music is played in one place. It’s a night where you can be yourself unapologetically.
Fangirl Fantasy events celebrate the passion and enthusiasm fangirls share for their favorite artists. We curate events featuring fangirl favorites, including The Jonas Brothers, Taylor Swift, One Direction, and more!
I am also a day-to-day manager to influencers and content creators that are based in Los Angeles.
I am most proud of creating and building a company that I believe in and have a team around me that has the same vision that I do.
I think what sets me apart from others is everything that I do or stand for is authentic, it’s who I am. My company is based around my passions which makes it real.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I think you’re given chances and it’s what you make of those chances. I don’t see it as good or bad luck.
