Conversations with Jorie Blake Rosen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jorie Blake Rosen.

Hi Jorie Blake, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am a 11-year-old Actress/Recording Artist. I have worked in TV, Film, Commercials and Theater. I started my career working in print at the age of six months old and hit the stage for the first time at the age of three years old. I played Abu in the musical Aladdin. Since then, I have performed in various theatrical productions since then.

I have also had the opportunity to work on many TV/Film projects. I am shooting a project next month in Atlanta and have another feature I am shooting this Fall. I am also a singer/songwriter. My first single, Make Your Own Music, was produced in Spring of 2021 and has received over 50,000 streams and my music video over 25,000 views. I wrote the song to inspire others to follow their passion in life. Go Make Your Own Music, find your own voice and do what you love. On top of it, I just released my next single called #mytime which is all about bullying. Really proud of this new release! It sends a really great message to all.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I love performing! It is super fun for me, but to do it on a professional level it definitely takes a lot of hard work. I train every week in acting, singing and dance. I audition a lot for projects. I’ve gotten close to some very big opportunities this year, which is exciting.

There also have been many callbacks/producer sessions where we have heard, “We love Jorie, BUT: she’s too old/young/short/tall/girlie/dramatic/childlike/innocent/serious… and everything else you can think of. This can be a struggle, too at times. But through this, I have learned this is a journey. I never take it personally. All I can do is work and be the best Jorie I can be!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I might only be 11 years old, but I have a big drive and work ethic. I perform in Theater, TV, Film Commercials and Voiceovers, but I also love to write and create my own material. Besides my songwriting, I have also been working on a pilot with another writer called Just Jorie. I developed the idea during quarantine and my mom hooked me up with a professional sitcom writer to help structure it. I can’t say much about the project yet, but it’s a sitcom and really funny. My team has been shopping it around, and we are hoping we can create it soon. I think kids would really enjoy the story and characters.

With my songwriting, my new song #mytime just dropped this summer. It had such a great response that I was offered a distribution deal with Aurally Records, which is part of Sony Music The Orchard. I am excited to be working with them and we are focusing on my record release.

Another part of me is that I really believe in giving back. My parents taught me charity at a very young age. I have worked with many charities such as Mini Mitzvahs, Toys for Tots, Tri-County Animal Rescue and most recently, Make a Wish Foundation. I am working with a company called Play It Forward, and we hooked up my first single, Make your own Music with Make a Wish Foundation. So far, I have raised over $2000.00 for the charity! I am so happy that I can use my talents to help other people’s wishes come true!

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Definitely my family and friends! I wouldn’t be able to share my passion and art with the world without their support. I am so lucky to have an amazing supportive family, great friends and teachers who help guide me along the way.
