Conversations with Jonquil Wilson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonquil Wilson.

Hi Jonquil, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
So I actually started my creator journey as just a women who loves to thrift. I had always received compliments on the outfits I would put together, and when I was letting people know that the items were all thrifted, I would typically get a very surprised response. I wanted to share with the masses that your clothes don’t have to be expensive or designer in order to hone in on your personal style and be able to put amazing outfits together.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t, but it’s the typical creator journey. There’s always things that you could’ve done better or things you shouldn’t have done at all, but that’s all a part of the journey. Trying to figure out my niche has been and sometimes still is a struggle for me, I feel like we are told as creators that we need to define this, but we are all multifaceted people so I truly believe what we are putting out should reflect that as well. Currently still trying to figure out how to balance it all.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
During the week I work for a nonprofit organization in their HR depart. I know a lot of creators have a Clark Kent / Superman moment where they almost live a double life, so I’m not so sure that necessarily sets me apart. The work I do is very fulfilling and sometimes challenging, which makes having my content creation side even more rewarding…it’s my favorite creative outlet to get out of stress.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory was being able to see love music in the park with my mom and sister, it was such a beautiful day and just being in the presence if everyone sharing this moment was honestly so great. I don’t even remember what artist it was performing, I just remember how serene and relaxing it was.
