Conversations with Jimmy Santarosa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jimmy Santarosa.

Hi Jimmy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself. 
Started DJing at the age of 14, helping an uncle on his mobile DJ business during the weekends. After high school, I started getting gigs in several LA and Orange County clubs. Also, I had the opportunity to start DJing on a major radio station known as Latino 96.3 FM. This really helped my career to get a wider audience listening to my music. Over the next few years, I worked on growing my brand and eventually, years later, got hired to work on Pitbull’s SiriusXM channel, which is heard all over the country. Being on-air has given me opportunities to travel to DJ and, on a couple of occasions, have opened up the show for Pitbull’s concerts. Currently, I’m still working on that Siriusxm channel and also working on Los Angeles market radio station CALI 93.9 FM as music director and on-air DJ. 

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Some struggles for me have been able to do public speaking; as an introvert, I had to push myself out of my comfort zone since being in front of people is part of the gig. Maintaining energy and enthusiasm is another hard task. At times, when feeling tired or unwell, you gotta keep up a lively and engaging persona, which can be difficult. Staying relevant in a fast-moving industry is also hard, need to make sure to keep up to date with trends 

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
One thing that makes my music stand out is that I create my own DJ edits to play, so my sets sound different than others. Those small things are the spices that make you different.
