Conversations with Jeff Sanon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeff Sanon.

Jeff Sanon

Hi Jeff, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I grew up around music in my mother and father’s house but I officially started writing songs at eight years old. As I continued to explore songs and sounds, my curiosity for composing songs and beats grew then I started producing my own music at 12 years with Fruity Loops (bka FL Studio) and recording myself the following year and haven’t stopped since. Since then, I’ve worked on music with acts all around Ottawa, Ontario and commercially released my self-produced single “Miss Solana” for the first time and that’s when I started gaining more of a worldwide following. I went on to release my first project “Stay Home” in 2020 at the start of the pandemic and a newer self-produced single “SSS” with Badda in 2021. As of late, I’ve been using my songwriting and producing skills to help people with their creative endeavours and have produced and written songs for Jahkoy, Dom Vallie, City Fidelia, JYDN HILL, Doressa and more.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been somewhat of a smooth road creatively because I’ve always loved the art of creating and recording music but the struggles came in on the branding and marketing side of things seeing as how I don’t have the habit of keeping up with social media and posting content all the time.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a record & vocal producer, songwriter, and recording artist. I specialize in urban music like hip hop and rnb but I love creating other genres like rock, house, indie etc.

I’m proud of the fact I made it this far in my career by the grace of God, my contributions are still valuable to other people’s art, and I still love creating and the experience of marrying sounds together until you figure out a sonic experience and energy that makes you feel something.

I think what sets me apart is my passion. My passion for music isn’t set up like nobody else’s, and nobody else’s is set up like mine. Music and my spiritual connection to it saved me as a child and it taught and allowed me to dream big and believe.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
I’d say I learned that good sanitary habits and being considerate goes a long way.’
