Hi Jasmine, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey in therapy began with a deep commitment to making a difference, starting as a behavioral therapist. I found great fulfillment in helping individuals lead more meaningful lives, which naturally evolved into a role in special education. There, I taught diverse classes at a private school, working with children and adults with disabilities. My responsibilities included developing and leading classes in adaptive learning, art therapy, social skills, and integrating therapeutic techniques such as music therapy and movement. Additionally, I facilitated social skills groups and art classes for teens and adults.
These experiences highlighted the significant role of therapy across the lifespan and fueled my desire to deepen my expertise. Guided by a mentor, I pursued a degree in occupational therapy. At UCLA, I became involved in research as a dating coach for teens and adults on the autism spectrum—a unique and impactful aspect of occupational therapy that many may not be familiar with.
Currently, as an occupational therapist specializing in neurological outpatient rehabilitation, I focus on individuals recovering from traumatic brain injuries. My work encompasses addressing physical dysfunction, visual impairments, and supporting daily activities such as self-care, home care, sleep, leisure, and work. Given the complexity of brain injuries, I employ a multifaceted approach that includes manual therapy, motor performance training, environmental adaptations, and tailored home programs. Additionally, I specialize in pediatric early intervention, supporting children aged 0 to 3 with developmental delays, and continue to teach at the private school I cherish for its strong community and artistic environment.
A key insight from my career is that play is an often-underutilized yet crucial component of therapy. It can transform sessions into more engaging, enjoyable experiences while subtly promoting development. This realization inspired me to create sensory group classes for all ages, including “Mommy and Me” classes. During these sessions, I observed that new parents were particularly eager to understand how to effectively use sensory toys to support their children’s growth.
To address this need and ensure parents could confidently select and utilize sensory products, I developed a flyer that is included in each Joojeh Joy box. This flyer offers clear explanations of each toy, how it supports specific skills, and the benefits it provides. It has become a customer favorite, simplifying the selection process and enhancing the overall experience.
Joojeh Joy was founded to offer meticulously curated sensory boxes, each designed to target multiple developmental skills. These boxes are carefully crafted to provide a comprehensive sensory experience, ensuring that every toy serves a specific purpose and contributes to skill development. By offering a range of slightly different boxes, we take the guesswork out of purchasing sensory products, giving families the confidence that each item has been selected by a seasoned therapist for its therapeutic value.
Our sensory boxes are designed to support various aspects of development, including motor skills, sensory processing, cognitive abilities, and emotional regulation. Each box is thoughtfully assembled to provide a balanced and engaging sensory experience that can be tailored to individual needs.
We are currently collaborating with hospitals, clinics, and educational institutions to provide customized sensory boxes and fundraising options, aiming to expand access to these essential tools. As Joojeh Joy grows, we are excited to introduce travel boxes, hygiene boxes, and other skills-focused resources, further broadening our impact.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I wouldn’t describe the journey as particularly challenging because there’s such a clear and pressing need for what we offer. The biggest task has been getting our name out there and making people aware of Joojeh Joy. However, this has been an exciting and rewarding challenge.
We’re steadily growing our presence on Instagram and TikTok with our accounts @JoojehJoy and @OTwithJasmine. These platforms have been instrumental in connecting with families and professionals, and the positive response has been incredibly encouraging. Once people learn about what we’re doing and the benefits of our sensory products, they quickly become enthusiastic supporters. This support reaffirms that we’re on the right path and inspires us to continue expanding our reach and impact.

Joojeh Joy is dedicated to enhancing developmental and therapeutic outcomes through thoughtfully curated sensory products. What sets us apart is my diverse professional background. While many in the field typically specialize in one area, I have been fortunate to gain experience across several disciplines, including occupational therapy, special education, behavioral therapy, and preschool teaching. Currently, I work in neurological rehabilitation and pediatric early intervention, and I also teach special education. This broad experience informs the way we select our products, ensuring they are both effective and meaningful.
