Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Del Toro.
Hi Jasmine, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a 28 year old beauty and lifestyle content creator born and raised in South El Monte, California. My passion for beauty started out in high school. Whenever I had free time, I was on YouTube watching anything beauty related- from learning new eyeshadow tricks to makeup tutorials on how to get dewy skin.
Beauty was always something I loved but never actually saw myself building a career in. It wasn’t until I met my friend Erik that I decided to start my own beauty blog. He always pushed me to be myself and to be creative.
When I first started my blog, it was a liberating feeling because even though I only had a few followers at the time, it was a way to express myself and something I really enjoyed doing. I started to post what products I would use, what outfits I would wear, and so on. From there, I have also learned so much about marketing and social media.
Little by little I was able to grow my following to what it is today and it’s been an incredibly rewarding and fulfilling experience. Though there is always room for growth, I have made it farther than I could’ve imagined and I’m proud of myself for that. I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with some of my favorite brands- including Merit, Ipsy, and Patrick Ta Beauty.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It’s been a rewarding road… but definitely not an easy one. There were so many times when I wanted to quit my blog.
What people don’t realize is that it takes a LOT of time, work, and consistency to run a blog. In the beginning, I would spend every weekend recording content, only to get very little engagement. There were so many times when it felt like the work I put in went unnoticed. But ultimately, everything was worth it when I started getting emails asking me to collaborate with some of my favorite brands!
I’ve also had to learn how to handle and deal with social media criticism. Putting yourself on social media opens the door to people criticizing and judging your every move. It can be hard at times to filter out the noise, but I continue doing what I love and being myself.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
The main themes of my blog are beauty, lifestyle, and fashion. It is a reflection of me and the things I love.
My beauty page has always been a fun outlet for me. I still think it’s so cool when people like the content I create or go out and buy the products that I recommend. Learning new makeup/beauty tricks always makes me feel more confident and I hope that I can inspire people to feel the same way.
I’m most proud of collaborating with Insert Name Here and Ipsy because those are two of my favorite brands. It’s crazy to think that out of all the beauty influencers, I was lucky enough to be noticed.
What’s next?
One of my goals is to be featured in a SKIMS campaign. I love the brand and the confidence it gives women, so being able to represent that is definitely something I’m working towards. Aside from that, I want to continue to build relationships with my audience and new brands.
