Today we’d like to introduce you to iManté.

iManté

iManté, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve been around music my whole life. My mom sang for the church, and my grandad played blues guitar. I picked up the guitar, and I’ve played that since I was about 11 years old. I found out I could rap around the same time. I would freestyle in class at school and in the neighborhood. I always had talent but never gave pursuing a music career much thought because I thought being a music artist was out of reach and that you needed a record label, etc. I started taking music seriously in college when I saw my friends had studios in their dorm rooms and apartments, releasing music independently on streaming platforms and on SoundCloud. I released my first project in 2019, and 4 years later, I moved to LA with $600 in my pocket.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I ran into my fair share of obstacles along the way. From establishing my sound to being dropped by distributors to losing money on shows and shady business. I understand that challenges are a part of the journey to greatness, and I embrace them as they come.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a rap artist, a songwriter, and an instrumentalist. I play electric guitar by ear, and I’m known for my lyrical ability as well as my ability to move a crowd. I’m most proud of the way my music makes people feel. The highest human act is truly to inspire. I’ve had fans tell me my music made them cry, made them feel empowered, and feel driven. That means the most to me. I’m also really proud of the next project I’m releasing. It’s called HAVE PATIENCE, and it’s one of my more skillful and vulnerable pieces. My songs have layers; there are many sides to my art.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success as reaching the goals that you have set for yourself. For that reason, it looks very different person to person. For me, success is being happy, having a peaceful life, creating beautiful art, having a happy family, being healthy, and most importantly, being free.
