Conversations with Faith Sycaoyao

Image descriptionToday we’d like to introduce you to Faith Sycaoyao

Hi Faith, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Of course! But pinpointing exactly when or how I started is rather difficult. My dreams have always been within me, and every occurrence and decision I’ve made so far has contributed to who I am today. Every mistake, every pain, every failure, all obstacles, and all moments of confusion were part of my journey– even as a young child.

I’ve reached my current position thanks to my persistence despite the rejections and failures I’ve encountered. While I might have had plans set for the next decade of my life, it has always been more about following my purpose and passion. I believe the environment and the people I surround myself with play a crucial role in providing support and shaping who I am. This is not just about the physical environment; with the constant rise in the use of technology, the online content you consume also plays a significant role. So be discerning with the content you read, watch, and learn from, as well as with the people in your circle. Overall, these factors have enabled me to live a fulfilling life, inspired me greatly, and I hope to continue doing so while aiding underprivileged individuals globally.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It is never easy, but it can become easier if you have a purpose and vision to guide you through your path! Life is never without its challenges; failures and struggles are inevitable. However, these difficulties strengthen you by testing your overall belief in what you’ve envisioned for yourself, what you want to do for the world, and what you want to offer and provide. So, have patience. I always believe that the toughest and most solitary journeys often lead to the greatest rewards, the brightest futures, and a fulfilling end with no regrets.

So all I can say is live a life where you won’t dream of regretting it.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a 19-year-old artist majoring in Economics and International Business with a clear focus on aiding economic challenges through art and philanthropy. Prior to my current endeavors, I held the role of Marketing Director for a non-profit within Los Angeles County. Presently, I’m a Content Creator and serve as the Deputy Graphics Director at Climate Cardinals. The media audiences I’ve reached across the United States have primarily been from Los Angeles city.

What I appreciate most about my line of work is the beneficial impact I can have on the lives of others throughout the world through a commitment to creativity and social responsibility. This gives me a tremendous sense of comfort and satisfaction, and it may also help to dispel the common misconception that art is not a rewarding and lucrative career. Those are the voices I want to disprove and a misconception I will challenge. I will maintain my conviction that there is more to it and that I can do more, even if it is not for monetary gain. I truly believe that the most successful artists—including musicians and performers—are those who never stop producing novel pieces or projects and who have the patience to constantly evolve.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was always known as the most introverted student in class or in the corner of the room, quietly observing. While my peers took part in group outings and parties, I remained detached and will continue to be. I rarely, or rather never, had the opportunity to spend much time with my closest friends on regular trips, afterschool, sleepovers, and lacked the confidence to approach people in the past. However, this solitary journey allowed me to hone my passions, broaden my knowledge, gain self-awareness, and refine my character to this day.

Looking at who I am today, I no longer mind missing out. Even though my path deviated from the norm, I now recognize its invaluable contribution to my progress. Those were moments of development, not isolation, allowing my inner voice to flourish in the absence of external noise. Every challenge and setback served as a the vessel to test and strengthen my resilience. It also taught me the independence and strength I need to approach my goals in a strategic and rational manner today. So, I believe every past setback will always bear its fruits today and in the future!
