Hi Don, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey started with a love for food and storytelling. Growing up in Long Beach, I was always the go-to person among friends and family for restaurant recommendations. That passion for discovering great eats evolved into sharing my experiences on Instagram as @donnydeppeats.
What started as casual food photography quickly grew into a full-fledged platform. I realized that not only did I love capturing the essence of a dish, but I also enjoyed bringing restaurants to life through engaging content. Over time, I refined my skills in social media management, photography, and videography, helping restaurants showcase their best dishes and reach wider audiences.
Now, I run Munchies Media with my wife, offering content creation services for food businesses, from high-quality photography to full-scale video productions. My goal has always been to highlight amazing food spots—whether it’s a hidden gem or a well-loved staple—and make people excited about their next meal.
It’s been an incredible ride so far, and I’m just getting started! .
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Becoming a full-time food blogger comes with its challenges. Consistency is key—you have to constantly create high-quality content to stay relevant. Financial stability can be tough in the beginning, as brand deals and partnerships take time to build. Social media algorithms are unpredictable, making it harder to reach your audience. Balancing work and personal life is tricky since content creation never really stops. There’s also a lot of competition, so standing out and staying authentic is important. Plus, there’s a business side to it—handling contracts, negotiations, and finances. Despite the challenges, it’s incredibly rewarding to share my passion for food and help people discover great places to eat!

I specialize in food content creation, social media management, photography, and videography. Through my brand, @donnydeppeats I help restaurants showcase their best dishes through high-quality visuals and engaging storytelling. I’m known for my detailed food reviews, Instagram reels, and photography that highlight both the flavors and experiences behind every meal.
What sets me apart is my authenticity and passion for supporting local businesses. I focus on capturing not just the food, but the culture, history, and people behind it. My content isn’t just about showing what’s on the plate—it’s about making viewers feel like they’re right there, tasting it with me.
I’m most proud of building a community of food lovers and helping small restaurants gain the recognition they deserve. Seeing a business grow because of my content is the most rewarding part of what I do! 🍽️🔥
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I love most about Los Angeles is its incredible food scene. The diversity here is unmatched—you can find everything from authentic street tacos in Boyle Heights to high-end sushi in Downtown, from classic Korean BBQ in K-Town to legendary dim sum in the SGV. Every culture is represented, and there’s always something new to discover. The energy, creativity, and passion in the food world here make LA a dream city for food lovers.
What I like least? Traffic, hands down. Getting from one great food spot to another can be a mission, especially during rush hour. Parking can be a nightmare, too. But honestly, for the food and experiences LA offers, it’s a small price to pay!
