Conversations with Crystal Afriyie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal Afriyie.

Hi Crystal, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Ms. Crystal Afriyie, born and raised in New York, yet deeply rooted in my Ghanaian heritage, and the founder of The Promise Foundation, a charitable organization based in Ghana. Committed to uplifting vulnerable communities, the Foundation sponsors an orphanage each year by providing educational materials, healthcare support, financial aid, and food donations. Beyond essentials, it fosters creativity and holistic development by hosting events and interactive programs that nurture both mental and physical well-being.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, especially learning how to navigate the complex process of registering an NGO and establishing a business trademark in Ghana. I had to ensure that all the legal paperwork and company certification for my NGO were in order. I am blessed to have friends in the business who guided me through.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My dedication to community service began early, sparked by a high school requirement to complete 100 hours of volunteer work—a commitment that planted the seed for a lifelong passion. I am particularly inspired by Oprah Winfrey, whose ability to use her platform for advocacy and empowerment motivates me to find new ways to give back and support others through service. I want to make a real difference, so I view every new partnership with a charitable organization as an opportunity to connect and contribute.
