Conversations with Cressada Mayhew

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cressada Mayhew.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was born in Boston and was raised there as well as Florida. Once I was old enough, I began to relocate to other cities like New York and Atlanta. Throughout all of my endeavors a few things remained the same… No matter where I went, I was able to shine in any environment. My natural ability to connect with others through my creativity allowed me to gain resources and relationships which aided in getting me where I am today. As a Tastemaker, Model, Actress, and Creative Director I have always been put in positions of leadership. I have always pushed the “norm” with my fearless confidence in everything I do. People, places, and experiences may have helped me get to where I am today but my individuality is what kept me.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not been a smooth road getting to where I am today. Starting over in different places as much as I did was always difficult. Not knowing if you made the right or wrong choice regarding your future will add the type of stress that blocks your creativity. Also, always having to find the source of energy that fuels you as an artist is a struggle within itself. Somehow no matter how hard things got, everything would eventually align. I would get referred for film and modeling opportunities. I would rendezvous with influential people in the industry. My name and face began to familiarize with others which led to more opportunities. That’s how I knew I was always right where I needed to be which made every struggle worth it.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I truly am hard to define as one source of creativity. I am well experienced and skilled in many things. Taste making is my favorite because I am able to not only express myself with no bounds, but I am usually helping others when I do it. Acting would fall right in line after. My love for film and the art of acting is who I am. Theatrical, dramatic, expressive, animated character is the best ways to describe me on film and in real life. Modeling and Creative Directing became second nature for me because it gave me freedom and versatility. I love fashion, so modeling and acting allowed me the chance to be whoever I decided to be. I can be who ever I want by what I’m wearing and my imagination of a story. That is the coolest thing in the world to me… to constantly be able to reinvent myself just for fun. That is price less. I am most known for my photos, which I am the proudest of so far. It is a privilege to have so many footprints of who I’ve been, who I am, and now who I am becoming. The personality of Cressada that lies behind every picture is what sets me apart and always will.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My mother deserves all of her flowers when it comes to the success of me. She raised a very intelligent, bright, and intriguing young woman by herself and no matter how confused, she never questioned me. Every wild and unpredictable move I have made was backed by my mom who just allowed me to be myself. She never put any pressure on me to be someone I wasn’t or to do things I didn’t want to do. My mother (Cassandra) gave me space to roam free knowing I have what it takes to succeed. I was well taken care of growing up, having more than I need. Her unconditional love for me was the foundation I was able to build on. The support she gives is unwavering.
