Conversations with Celina Jaimez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Celina Jaimez.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I grew up around a lot of girls and was always the one doing everyone’s hair and nails — it came naturally to me, and I always knew I had a talent for it. But it wasn’t until I went to beauty school that I realized how much I truly loved doing nails. While I was in school, a company called Olive & June came to give a presentation about their focus on nail health and organic products. I loved their concept, and when I found out they were hiring, I jumped at the chance to join their team.
I started working with Olive & June in 2015, first at their Beverly Hills location and later in Santa Monica. I spent four wonderful years with them — learning, growing, and even getting the opportunity to work with celebrity clients and special events. It was such a valuable experience and really shaped my understanding of what quality nail care should be.
When the pandemic hit and many salons closed, I began working at a Venice salon that offered outdoor services. I stayed there for about three and a half years, and during that time I built a loyal clientele and gained the confidence to take the next step in my career. I realized I wanted to create a space that reflected my own beliefs about nail care — a place focused on relaxation, wellness, and helping clients feel their best.

That’s how Two Gemini Girls was born. I started the salon with a great partner, and now I share it with my current partner, Yaddi Jimenez — the other Gemini! Although she’s not in the salon all the time, I’m there most days, continuing to grow our vision. At Two Gemini Girls, my philosophy is simple: relaxed care for nails that not only look and feel good but are truly healthy — because when your nails are healthy, you can feel your best too.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. In the beginning, one of my biggest struggles was learning how to keep a consistent clientele. Over time, I realized that in the nail industry-just like in any relationship — not every match is perfect. What one person loves, another might not, and that’s okay. I had to learn not to take it personally and to trust that the right clients would find me and appreciate my style and approach to nail care.

The pandemic was another big challenge. The uncertainty of it all was scary — not knowing when or if things would return to normal. But through that experience, I learned how to adapt and stay strong for myself and my clients.

This year has also brought new challenges. The fires were especially difficult. Many of my clients lost so much, and being there for them — emotionally and personally — was something I had to learn how to navigate. It was heartbreaking to see the impact up close. My salon was spared, but knowing others weren’t as fortunate was hard to process. Rebuilding from that, both for my clients and myself, has been a journey. Through it all, I’m just grateful that everyone is safe.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My salon, Two Gemini Girls, is a studio suite, which allows me to offer a more personal and intimate experience for my clients. I believe nail care should never be rushed or stressful, it’s a form of self-care. My goal is for every client to leave feeling calm, confident, and cared for.

Nail health is extremely important to me. I use only top-of-the-line products, including Dazzle Dry, one of the healthiest nail polish brands on the market. I also offer a variety of professional gel products, including HEMA- and TPO-free options, to accommodate clients with sensitivities or allergies. I’ve been learning to work closely with clients who have allergies, finding products that allow them to still enjoy having their nails done while feeling safe and confident.
For my spa services, I use all-natural oils and products made with healthy, nourishing ingredients. Everything I choose is with intention and care. I want my clients to feel like they have a space here where they can truly unwind, and feel good.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I see the nail and beauty industry continuing to focus more on health, wellness, and sustainability over the next 5–10 years. Clients are becoming increasingly aware of the products they use and the impact they have on their nails, skin, and overall health. I think we’ll continue to see a shift toward cleaner, non-toxic products, as well as more personalized, boutique experiences like the one I offer in my studio suite.

Another trend is the emphasis on education and expertise, clients want to know they’re in the hands of professionals who prioritize safety, nail health, and proper technique. I also think we’ll see more innovation in nail care technology and formulations, especially for clients with sensitivities or allergies, making nail care accessible to even more people.
