Conversations with Bridget Wilson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bridget Wilson.

Hi Bridget, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My interest in skin started well before I got into the industry. Prior to this I worked in International Logistics for 11 years, primarily in product & account management. I enjoyed being an expert in the field, but more than that I LOVED my customers and I loved solving their problems; it was like dopamine to me. Fast forward to my late 20’s & I was a can’t leave the house without makeup girl. I was so self conscious of my skin and was still experiencing acne and lots of acne scarring. It was emberrassing. That led my to see an esthetician and that’s kind of where my curiosity began. First with the basics (at that time I wasn’t even wearing spf daily!!), then digging into ingredients, treatments, etc; I was hooked. Fast forward a few years and I find myself becoming the go to for beauty to my family and friends; asking for recs, checking if this brand is good, what an ingredient is. That’s when I had a lightbulb moment that this could actually be something I see myself doing professionally. So after sitting on the fact that I was “too old” and a mother a of 3 and how impossible this all was, I took the leap & went back to school. It actually wasn’t my intention to move forward and have a business of my own right off the bat, but after getting in trouble for practicing on close friends & family at home (oops!), it was almost kismet I had to move forward and get a space of my own.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not, and it still isn’t. One thing about esthetics it’s constantly evolving, there’s a new trend, new ingredient, new treatment what feels like almost every week. It’s also insanely competitive and I’ve unfortunately learned the hard way that not everyone is rooting for you; the esthetic industry is huge! Finding my own identity whilst battling major imposter syndrome is probably the biggest challenge I have right now, well that and content creation- it’s a part of my job that I genuinely would rather never do again.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a facialist, specializing in skin. While this is largely considered an esthetic practice, I really make it a point to emphasize skin health as the root. I truly believe in a holistic approach, especially when it comes to your parasympathetic system, so I incorporate a lot of massage and relaxation into every step of my facials. From the moment you walk in the door, I guarantee all 5 senses will be in for deep deep rest. I’m most proud of the fact that almost every client falls asleep at some point during their facial with me. What sets me apart is that I listen. I really take the time with each client to understand what their concerns are and meet them where they are. I’m only ever aiming to correct what they consider an issue & not bring up things they are fine with. Most of my clients are very comfortable confiding in me; that trust is what I am proud of above all.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I am truly so lucky and honestly have more favorite childhood memories than I can count, but one I recall often is Friday night scrapbooking with my mom & sister. We’d get out out snacks, my mom would play the Beegees and we’d work on preserving all our memories into a book filled with stickers, clever cutouts and printed paper. I can still hear the clicks of the corner rounder and smell the Creative Memories books; books I cherish and look at with my own kids to this day.
